Window behaviour
Discussion
Hi,
I had the windows of my Cerb (2004 - 4.5 RR) tinted. The workshop took the door cards off and removed, tinted and refitted the side windows. The passenger window now moves up and down as it should. Drops 2 inches when opening the door etc.
I have searched the forum, but have not found any with the same problem as me.
My problem is the drivers window. When i open the door, the window now almost drops all the way down leaving approx 2 inches of the window visible - and then the door pops open - as it should. When i close the door the window moves all the way back to the top as i should and fully closes.. When arming the alarm, the window does not need move up any more - i.ex not the "remaining" 2 inches as it did before and as is the case on the passenger side.
Although I can live this behaviour, I really would like the windows to behave in the same way. Both windows can be operated from the up/down buttons inside. Connectors inside door look ok.
I have tried to remove all cables from the door/window control box - leave for 30 sec - and reconnect. I have also tried to disconnect the battery of the car - leave for 2 min and then reconnect.
Do any of you have any experience with this "problem", or any procedure that I can do to try to get the "old" behaviour back?
From what I can make of the mechanism inside the door, I suspect it is the microswitch which the window pushes on that tells the system when to stop dropping the window that has been messed up? Can the window have been mounted with the lifters in the wrong position?
Any input is welcome :-)
thanks!

The 2 inch drop is controlled by the microswitch behind the front of the glass inside the door card. The window normally drops until the lower front edge of the glass hits the switch which sends a signal to the control box which stops it, giving you the 2 inch drop. The window tinters have either damaged or moved the switch when they took the glass out.
If you check the switch and the control box is not responding to a signal from it, then start checking the wiring.

First and easiest thing to check is the Windows and doors control box in the boot above the fuel tank. Unplug the connections check they are clean and also look for signs of wires shorting out as this is very common.
And don't forget to check which plug goes where as reconnecting them in the wrong position can be an expensive mistakeGassing Station | Cerbera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
