Afternoon all,

I've been hunting for a new car for a while and was about to buy an XKR when the missus started me feeling guilty about spending £30K on my hobby...........

So, to keep the peace I've started to look elsewhere. Cerberas have always been on my shortlist (as have Griffs) and I'm now scouring the classifieds trying to find a good un in the region of 15 - 20K. I've not made my mind up about SP6 or V8 so I'll probably buy either based on condition and history, etc.

I know that I may well end up spending £30K in the end but this would be progressive and hopefully at a pace that would go un-noticed by the breadknife........

If anybody is thinking of selling soon or can point me in the direction of a good one then I would appreciate it you would drop me a line. I am a cash buyer and I don't need to sell or P/X anything.

Best regards

Ian

Yeah I've seen the Cerbs at Britannia. The SP6 looks great but is more than I would want to shell at this time. The 4.2 looks in great condition from the pics but I don't think yellow is my thing......

As a 98 car, particular attention to the chassis is required.. They don't make any mention of it in the ad (skim read), which is unusual considering what it is!

It looks nice, and sounds like it has been cared for though! But would require putting on a 4 post ramp.

Thanks for that. I have seen some pics of the chassis and whilst there is evidence of surface rust I couldn't see anything too sinister. Obviously seeing it in the flesh is the only way to be sure.

I used to own the yellow 4.2 AT Britannia if you needed more info on the car.. But, as you said yellow is not your colour

A little info on the blue cerb, check the reg but it looks suspicisly like a cerb I almost bought last year ( a previous owner has confirmed this on another thread) . Check the engine has been rebuilt and at that price it should have, basically when I was going to buy it a previous owner got in contact with me and told me when he owned it he found out that it needed a rebuild but cut his loses and sold it for 10k through 'we buy any car'. It soon ended up in a garage in surrey , DMS cars which is where I saw it , long story short the nearest tvr place Elmwood tvr confirmed that it did need a rebuild still and the seller then offered it to me at 11k . Tempted but by that point I was looking at another one so please check its been rebuilt .
Search for the thread I started at the time ' went to look at this yesterday ' on pistonheads and you'll see what info I was going on.
Apart from the engine query , the rest of the car was in a very good condition !!

Many thanks Dave for this info.

I'm off looking at another car this weekend so I'm not going to get the chance to visit this one. If indeed it is the same car (and I'm pretty certain I read your thread the other night) then it probably isn't worth me travelling the 500 mile round trip.......

Thanks again,

Ian

Dear all...

This IS NOT the same car. This car was owned by the previous owner in the Devon area since 2006, prior to that it was owned by a chap in Torquay for 3 to 4yrs.
The car was looked after by Dulfords/Peninsula TVR and more recently by Colin at TVRSW. We have known the car because of this for 11yrs, and is the main reason we bought it.

If anyone wants to know anything about this car they can speak to Colin who will tell you that all is in order and there are no issues with the engine.

Any inspection is welcome as with any of the car that we sell.

The car has never been anywhere near a dealer in Surrey and it IS NOT the same car.

Pretty sure that car at DMS was a much lighter blue or even crystal topaz and wasn't it an S6 hence the need for a rebuild ? As above post anyway, already confirmed the one at Shmoo definitely isn't the same car.
