Just a question for the knowledgeable amongst the Cerbera purists!
Ever since I have owned my Cerb which is nearly 10 years now its been fitted with 18" aftermarket wheels.
I have always liked the RL7`s and now have the chance to buy a set of 17" without tyres.
The question is what is the correct tyre fitment size for 17" RL7`s? and in peoples opinion which currently is the best tyre for road use to fit?
Thanks.

235/40R17s on the front and 255/40R17s on the rears.

Getting a matched set of anything half-decent isn't especially easy. Rather than have a matched set of Toyos or crap like that I'm using Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics on the front and Assymetric 2s on the rears.

Don't you rate the Toyos? I run Proxes on mine (on RLs) and really rate them...

They were a bugger to find too..

Everyone is different but I found Toyo Proxes to be squirmy, a bit unstable and fairly unpredictable in the wet - particularly as they age and wear.

To be fair the ones on it when I bought it were shocking so anything new would have been a marked improvement, especially after a full geo setup.

I have got used to driving the car with the Toyos (they were recommended) but if there are better options out there for better handling then that's great!

Let's see how long these ones last...

Another question for the Cerbera aficionados regarding wheels.
As mentioned I have always had aftermarket wheels on my Cerb but have purchased some RL7`S which obviously were original fitments on 4.5`s.
I keep reading the phrase `chocolate spiders` and how they buckle quite easily.
SP12`S are highly regarded as a good fitment.
Does wheel fitment make that much difference to the Cerbs drivabilty?....if so.....what is the peoples choice....spiders,RL7`s or SP12`s ?

Biggest difference comes from weight! Fitment can make some subtle changes from a bit extra width or slightly more track. A Cerb drives great on RL7's!

I've got some Federal 595rsr being fitted to my RL7s next week.

They're a great price and should stick to the road pretty well!

I have seen some of those Federal treads begin to split, keep an eye on them.

Yeah I've heard that too... Apparently the official response from Federal is that it's perfectly normal... Saying that I'll still keep an eye on them!

I've never had it happen to any of the Toyo's/Conti's/Goodyear's etc I've run over the years.. I had heard that was their official response also.
