Thought Id say hello .
So " hello "
I own a VW and Porsche Restoration shop in Wiltshire and have like most car people got too many projects and not enough drivers .
Recently I was offered a silly amount of money for a rusty old split screen bus which if I'm honest I was never going to get around to doing and was happy to sell if a buyer came along .
I had been looking for another car I can use on nicer days , had to be 4 seats . I was looking at 996 Porsches but I couldn't get past the IMS issue and that worried me a lot . Whilst looking on eBay I often keep an eye on TVR's as Ive always liked them and as a sale looked closer I started to look a bit closer .
As a result I have done everything wrong when buying a car - Only looked at 1 and purchased it .
I made an offer that makes it the cheapest one advertised in the UK and was happy to take a risk . Chassis looks ok and everything works ( for now )
Its a 2000 speed six - Tuscan front end and I can't stop smiling .
There are a few bits that need sorting out but that is just silly tidying up which I enjoy .
So far I've done just over 100 miles and its still all working - I intend to use it fairly often and will no doubt be in need of help and assistance as I go on .
Cheers Jon

Interesting - I found it for sale in Leicestershire for 16k + but that was a year ago, whilst looking at pictures on Google It was put to Brooklands historic for sale by auction and did not sell .
The owner agreed to help them sell - I looked at it and put an offer a week or so later of what I was happy to pay . which was 12K
Ive been through it a bit over the last few days and done a few miles , Chassis is good which was my main concern and it looks lovely . Still not made up my mind about the wheels as I would prefer spiders TBH . But hey ho , it was a negotiation point ...
All good so far except I seem to have developed a rattle under the bonnet - I will take off the covers and have a listen - Sounds like its from the front of the engine though , under the rocker .....
Im sure questions will follow .

Is the rattle engine speed related? Is there any mention of an engine rebuilt in the history and if so who did it?

It has had an engine rebuild - to red rose spec . Cant remember who did it but I have receipt . Is there any mention of an engine rebuilt in the history and if so who did it?
The noise seems to be coming from the cam cover - at this moment I'm suspecting cam tensioners .
I will take covers off and have a little look soon - I was then thinking of sending it up for a 12000 jobbie in Redditch at a company recommended to me .
That will get it all running right and they can have a look at the cam tensioners - Hopefully its obvious whats wrong when I take covers off - IE loose tensioner etc not metal bits in there :-0
The noise is not speed related - It doesn't do it at idle and when you raise revs to over 1000 it starts and disappears almost as soon as you pull away .
Cheers Jon

Is it true that Red Cerbs are slower ?
How very dare you! Everybody knows that when driving a red cerbera you have to drive a bit slower cause people demand to see them for longer
And people are often heard to say as we cruise on by "My, that has got to be the coolest colour for a Cerbera"!
