Changing the fuel filter earlier, whenever I touched the exhaust and chassis together I swear I was getting a mild shock/current pass through me. Tried different body parts and got the same results.. Bad earth or a live touching something it should't?!

You would not feel 12volts.

Are you sure?! You feel 9v on the tongue ok.. It was definitely the sensation of a gentle shock.. Using arms/hands and forehead, always the same.

Yep, to demonstrate open your bonnet and put a finger on the battery terminal and another on the engine somewhere, you will not feel a thing.

I got hooked on a battery once by somebody stupid fault.
Believe me you'll know when those 90 amps go through you.
You'll be sitting down for a few moments... biggrin

I absolutely guarantee that 12volts DC you will not feel.

Look up ohms law on Google, get a Meyer and measure your bodies resistance then do the maths.

DC gets off concern at about 100 volts and then only directly across the chest and in humid or wet conditions.

well I didn't touch the battery in my case.
in my early spannering days i had a mustang smile
I only unhooked the positive from the battery.
Meanwhile i was rewiring the starter relais.
I was tightening the positive with a spanner and meanwhile already putting the negative nut on with my hand.
My mate was working on the radiator, accidentally rubbed his arm against the positive and it made contact to the battery.
To top it off I was rewiring the starter relais wrong and the thing started cranking.
Believe me when I tell you that you'll feel that smile
Start your Cerb and put your finger in your HT lead if you're curious biggrin

Medically speaking, current is more significant than voltage. Body and skin provide high resistance, so car batteries can't usually cause any damage. But even 1 milliamp through the body can be felt as tingling.......and car battery can induce at least 10 times this current.

So using that information dry skin has a resistance of 500,000 ohms.

Using ohms law that gives a current through the body using a car battery of 12/500,000 or a current of .024mA you would not feel it neither would that current turn a car over.

If the ignition was turned on and the HT was shorting to something you touched you would feel that as a high voltage (50,000V) low current jolt, uncomfortable but not going to cause damage.
