Ordered the tank, cap number not recognised? I'll sort that out another day.....next question how do you remove it, I assume it's passenger footwell stuff...

No passenger footwell with this one, remove windscreen scuttle panel then remove n/s airbox undo two bolts securing bonnet lock rod bracket and move out of way, undo return feed snall pipe at top then undo securing bolt and slide it out enough to lift up slightly to gain access to main feed hose underneath, you will need to trim off two of the mounting lungs to be able to fit back in, it should be same as original

Great advice - first time attempting this this weekend so guessing that draining the coolant system by releasing the two radiator hoses is needed before being able to easily remove the overflow tank? Then refitting, refilling and bleeding as per Workshop Manual chapter 1...

Also - mine arrived from Euro Car Parts today - NO cap included

No need to drop the level that far, top rad hose should be fine IIRC.

You only need to drain enough to empty the tank because main feed is at bottom of the tank when i done mine level stayed just below pipe as it was the highest point so did not get any air in the system

Just undo the bottom water pipe from the header tank, which you need to anyway and you will only lose just enough water. Saves undoing other hoses then.

Decided to remove it without any draining and see how much coolant it dropped, I reckon about 0.5ltr.

Old and new tanks so you can see what needs to be trimmed off, I used a junior hacksaw.

The hole left, two hoses the main one underneath and the overflow towards the screen.
