Definately worth a look, but find someone on here local to go with you and check it over both objectively and thoroughly. It's not going to be perfect, but it is priced lower than most 4.5s and could be a good car apart from a few niggles to sort.

Cheers fellas. The more I read the ad im starting to put myself off.
Ive bought cars that need a bit of work which turn out to be one job after another. So I think I will leave this one.
Thanks for the input, I need to get to a meeting some time soon.

Are some of you members of the TVR club at all ?.
Would this be of use if I were to join ?.

Thanks again Joe

Its useful if you want to be a member of the community, receive a magazine and get invited to meets (and get some discounts). If you want to find, maintain etc a car then pistonheads is your best bet.

If the car is near enough, then go take a look. Don't be dissuaded else you may miss the one. Better to see it yourself and then turn it down, plus the more you see, the more you'll spot differences etc

I'm back.

Well after a big summer holiday. Eldest daughter getting her GCSEs and then her place in college ( big family meal out and one years bus pass !!!!) the tvr fund has been raided 😠. But still looking 😀. Think I'll just bide my time whilst I get some more pennies together. Hopefully I will have one before Christmas.

Will be lurking and gathering more interesting info.

That's not a bad time to buy. The market generally slows down a bit.

One point to note (and it sounds bad but I believe it's good) is that you spend the first few months breaking traction at low speeds and with modest throttle openings. Greasy cold damp roads provide a training ground for a Cerbera's low powered, narrow tyred cousin.

Plenty opportunities to crash it, but if you can keep the thing on the road and pointing forwards through winter and spring you'll know the car's habits and vices before trying to go mad with wide throttle openings and very rapid acceleration on warmer, drier roads.

That's not a bad idea smile

Never looked at the market at winter time, would have though most of these type of cars would be sorn around that time, readying them for summer.

cheers ta

I think the owner has put up a recent post about this car and why he is selling it on so quickly

Sounds reasonable, find out when the rebuild was done and as said before check chassis I know from 1998 chassis powder coating was done in factory and the quality of powder coating suffered and had a habit of falling off

That would frighten me to death - The speed six is fast enough for me ( too Fast )
Its replacement is a little slower and older

You need to check chassis, what work has been done, if you read through what has been done to the one on the link, that's the type of Cerb you want to buy with all the important bits either upgraded or recently renewed, I know the owner he is a really nice guy and had the car over 15 years, but seriously read through the add and it will point you in the right direction on the type of Cerb you need to buy with your budget
