Any one know if this is the signs of a dying throttle pot. One of them was showing as rock steady at 15ish%, the other was bouncing all the place, sometimes right up to 50%. Mainly in the 20s and 30s though. This is all at idle without touching the throttle.

Quite oossibly, but mine were both acting very oddly. After trying a few things I found just unplugging the ECU for a bit did the trick. No idea if the time gap had anything to do with it, but it seems more likely it was just bad connections, though they looked fine.

It could be that the screws holding the pot are slightly loose, and the vibration of the engine is causing the pot to move.

I think the leads are just long enough that you could temporarily connect the pots the wrong way round (i.e odd bank to even and vice versa). Obviously the engine wouldn't run quite right like this, but you could see if the problem moves to the other bank - if it does, then it is likely that the fault is with the pot (or its screws), if it doesn't, then it is an electrical or electronic fault somewhere further down the line.

It was exactly what you said. Half a turn on the screws and the throttle pot reading is perfectly stable again. Thanks
