So I bought my first Cerbera, the original colour is yellow but the interior is green and cream. I'm guessing that the original owner is either colour blind, or just had exceptionally bad taste!

So my original thought was to change the body colour to a very dark metallic green and keep the green and cream interior (it's in very good nick), but now I'm not so sure. The discussions about valuations has got me re-thinking my entire approach. Granted that there are very few totally original Cerberas out there (if any), but would it be better to keep it yellow and go with a predominantly black interior?

I bought the car as I've wanted one since they first appeared, not as an investment, but I don't want to turn it into a lemon (pardon the pun).

Any thoughts please?

I'd be of the opinion that so long as you got the inside to compliment the outside you're making a good investment of funds. If it were me I'd bumble bee the interior as green, whilst typically British, doesn't feel very Cerbera to me.

I was thinking black leather with yellow stitching maybe?

Again, my opinion, but there are plenty of leather surfaces in a Cerb that would allow you to tastefully add some yellow to take the edge off the black whilst sticking to some kind of theme if you so desired. Underside of dash, headlining, door card centres etc. Can you tell I've wanted a yellow one?

My plan personal is to do the opposite and paint the exterior blue to match my blue and cream interior.

I was originally influenced by an article I read which said that only 1 in 10 would go for a yellow car colour, but with more thought I don't think you can apply those type of stats to a Cerbera?

Hi in my opinion (as ive never like the Cerbera in yellow) but do love the correct shade of green would be to have the body painted. not just Green but go for a reflex colour (Green which changes with gold) that way it compliments the cream of the interior.

To be honest I dont think a completely original Cerbera is the best thing as the single headlights are too vintage and apart from being the best car ever! They did have some original floors so upgrade away wink

Just my thoughts mate

Enjoy the tinkering!!

As anyone who has seen my car in person will attest, it looks absolutely absurd, the front/roof/rear are completely different colours. My theory is that someone did a front end respray with some pink paint they happened to have lying around.

The road rash means it now looks like it has measles.

One option I'm considering is a colour change by Alan at Matt-Pack.co.uk

Seems like a cost effective option, any thoughts?

Ridds has a nice yellow Cerb and it has the same interior colours at tvr101 (?) ie it is a bluey purple leather with yellow stitching I think

My cerbera is green with portland grey and green interior, it looks ok but wasn't my first choice colour.

I originally wanted a yellow Cerb with all purple interior, I know that sounds awful but one of the press Cerbs was that colour and it looked fantastic. Probably the same car Gazzab is on about but I think it had the plate TVR100 not TVR101

There's no denying that the purple looks good, although I'm not sure I am that brave!

That's my winter plan. Black with yellow stitching and yellow highlights.
Yellow may have limited appeal for a German family saloon but these are loud brash cars and to my mind yellow is just about perfect. Mine was originally camel yellow but I went a just shade further towards an orangey yellow as the original yellow was just a touch too, err, I was thinking insipid but no, not insipid just too pale for my taste. Current interior is prussian blue but that just does nothing for me. It just feels a let down after being assaulted by such a vivid outside, maybe OK with a more conservative outside if that's your taste. So my two penneth is keep it yellow and fix the inside, probably cheaper too and after all the inside is where you are so you want it just so.

What colour you looking for? I am working on this one at moment which is pretty much 'red glow pearl'

Mine's Halcyon Midas with black full hide, yellow stitching and black carpets. I find the outlandish shape of the dash is lost with black carpets as well as black leather, so I'm taking a gamble and having my carpets finished in pale yellow (the same colour as my door cards which are visible in the photos below, and the headlining).

Thanks Alan, but I really am looking for a complete colour change, as I've never been a fan of Red cars. There was a pic of a Ford Focus(?) in Bronze on your site a while ago, that looked good. Now I'm looking at the Cyan Glow in the Dark and wondering whether that would be possible on my car (not DIY).

The Focus by any chance? wink

Glow on a full car is a mission...... and very expensive. But looks amazing

The paler yellow interior highlights appeal to me over the brighter yellows that you often see. I agree with your comments regarding the dash, maybe some yellow could find its way in there? I'm meeting the trimmer on Monday, so I'll be scouring the web over the weekend for inspiration!
