Helmet Holder

How does it come out? I believe there is a bolt through to the boot but all I see is a fuel tank, do I need the tank out to get at said bolt?

And why does mention of a helmet holder always make me chuckle?

Just one nut above the fuel tank (right in the middle), should just have to pull the carpet off that covers the control boxes

Depends which way around it's been put in. On mine, you pull back the carpet oin the top of the helmet holder and there's a wingnut, the bolt head is on the fuel tank side. Sometimes it helps to have someone hold it.

The bolt head is behind the carpet flap, on top of the fuel tank.

The holder has always bothered me as a design feature... perhaps I am over thinking it. My race helmet doesnt actually fit into it and even if it did it would stick out quite far into the car. Has anyone actually ever used it to store a helmet then?

I sometimes think there must have been a real TVR reason for it and then the called it a helmet holder when they realised it was about the same shape and size.

I guess it was moulded around a helmet, then they added the carpet?
