As an homage to the IMDB forum, I decided it must be time to start the inevitable 'What I Learned' thread. Sadly I am not going to be able to match the standard of the usual ironic musings, so I'll just play it straight for now and hope that others will run with the baton.

I learned that you really don't want to try to drive a Cerb when the Power Assisted Brakes aren't working, that will end in tears. Therefore I retreated after a couple of hundred yards - in reverse straight back into my parking space.

I have also learned that you cannot pretend not to have been in the Cerb - your GF will always be able to smell that on you.

In my case wife and daughters, they can smell it a mile off.

When TVR fitted the expansion tank from an Audi that included a low coolant sensor, there was no point connecting it to the loom, because it doesn't really matter if you overheat the engine.

SpeedSix cars that manage 30k between rebuilds are actually considered Quite Reliable.

The Outriggers are designed to last as long as the engine.

My local refuse tips weighbridge overreads by 100kg.

I have learned they are actually pretty simple and easy to work on.. As long as you are some sort of contortionist, with tiny but mighty arms and hands.

The probability of the starter engaging with the flywheel is inversely proportional to the number of people watching.

Owning a Cerbera can be like living life at two extremes. On one hand pure joy. On the other total frustration.

You can't take it anywhere without having to be sociable with complete strangers.. A puppy gets less attention.

Removing the diff bush on his Cerb caused my otherwise very religious neighbour to use language that would make a sailor blush.

I caught an M135i up rather quickly on a twisty road. He started driving like an absolute idiot in reaction to that (excessive speed, cutting unsighted corners - all the usual serious crash initiators...).

It is possible to take 4 adults and loads of camera equipment to Normandy and back in 24 hours without the ones in the back dying or suffering lasting muscle damage. Also, French speed cameras don't fine you if triggered.

If the engine does overheat, then the coolant from the expansion tank is dumped directly on to the upper chassis rail causing extensive corrosion. Fortunately some of the coolant misses the coolant rail and leaks through the heater hose grommets, straight into the passenger footwell where the engine ECU resides. Apparently VW Passat ECUs suffer a similar fate, so who can blame TVR - it must be best practice.
