Identify TDC from Flywheel

I should have checked this while the engine was apart, but presumably it should be possible to identify TDC from the timing gap in the flywheel, using a endoscope in place of the CPS. Thoughts?

Not that simple I don't think. The countdown to firing starts x teeth either before or after the gap and only the ECU knows the value of X. I suppose someone who has disassembled the code may know but possibly not as they would not need to know to play with the maps. You would have to do it the other way round and set the engine to TDC then have a look which tooth is in the sensor window.
