Another battery thread

Hi all,
So the time has come for me to stop being lazy and arrange to get a battery sorted for the Cerb. I fully intended to go for a yellow top this time round but I hear they are now made in Mexico and quality has dropped. I want something that actually cranks with some urgency rather than always feeling like it's on its last legs like all previous batteries have. What can the Cerb masses recommend? The car is a 97 4.5.
Thanks.

I've just bought one with the - and + switched and with a high cranking capacity.
I must say i did replace my battery cables for longer ones.
Now i have more (and cheaper) options.
Looked at the yellowtop for a while but it's twice as expensive as the one i have now.
Same amount of amps, nearly same amount of cranking capacity.
See cranks very well even with the starter on the way out so I don't see the point of a yellowtop
I'd rather change it a bit sooner.

Always used Banner batteries previously on mine but the 2nd one failed after approx. 2 years use. A pal of mine runs a garage and he swears by Exide batteries at the moment so I have an Exide EB501 on my 4.5.
no issues so far after a years use.

Might need to do the same with the - and + switched - out of interest which one did you go for?
Now that i see esso's post, I have an Exide as well. ( i think)I'll take a look at the exact type when I pick her up from Fernhurst tomorrow.
I have had two Exides fail within months of fitting on various cars in the last 12 months....but the good thing is that they fail quickly and are immediately replaced under warranty.
Since the failures I have switched my allegiance to Oldham batteries, as that is what is sold by the local car spares chain to which I go. They say they have had no failures reported by customers, and nor have I.

Scuttle panel is quite a tight fit because of the height, but no real trouble. In terms of length, the battery shuffles a little so I'll pack in with some foam. Cranks the AJP over beautifully.

Perfect fit, not too high, higher capacity than the Red Top, and much cheaper (terminals the right way round too).
