Morning gents, does anyone know this car? Seems a nice late example. Were chassis's a concern on this period?

I've asked for some pictures of the chassis. Just wondered if it was known to any of you?

Thanks

Scott

Looks a lovely car. Not sure that asking for chassis pics will help much. Did you ask for close ups, on a ramp, of certain areas of the chassis?

What areas should I ask for? Sill outriggers, but where else. Should a car of this age have problems?

It could be rusty but depends...
The outriggers particularity near front wheel arches and the rails near the manifolds.
Not sure pics are worthwhile.

Around 1998 was the bad time but even much newer ones have had rust issues.

It largely depends on how they have been treated.

Only way to tell is to go and see it up on ramps and have a good look around, take a bright torch with you as well.

No engine bay photos - why?
Looks like Sports Tails rather than a proper back box
Lots of balancing weights on that rear wheel - perhaps it's bent?
Lots of passenger seat photos, none of drivers side
Nice paint

Asking for photos of the chassis is a waste of time. You'll think you see faults/problems in an honest dirty/waxoiled chassis (which just aren't there); and in the workshop we see beatifully black waxoiled chassis with plugs/filling; and now sadly the occasional white painted and lovely clean chassis, which you can put a screw driver through.

How do thin this cars fairs on price? Looking at pictures as a minimum the car needs door rubbers. I will arrange to view the car before making any decisions, they are happy to put the car up on a ramp for me to inspect.
Just wondered what price a car of this age should be. I understand that not knowing it's true condition/history will make this difficult but wondered.

Thanks for the reply

Price is not done on age but condition, if the chassis is rotten then you have an £8000 bill on the horizon irrespective of age.

Always buy on condition.

I was looking at this car approx 6 months ago. Current owner has only had it 6 months which I'd check out the reason for. Also did a bit of digging and think the car has been resprayed which put me off at the time but might not be a problem for you. There's a thread on here detailing paint damage etc. I can't post a link as on the phone

Did you view it at this dealer? What was the overall condition of the car? Why didn't you purchase? Was it purely due to the respray?

Thanks

I didn't view it in the end. It was for sale privately for about £26k. Spoke to the owner who knew nothing of the respray even when I mentioned he replied to the thread talking about the respray he still didn't recall anything. I left it at that something just didn't feel right. The guy who purchased it also started a thread on here probably worth sending him a message asking why he sold 6 months after purchasing it (unless he's the dealer selling it now). Keep us posted, cheers
