I just happen to have this on right now as it followed the news.

Is it supposed to be funny ? It's pitiful.

Ah yes, I'm not alone then.

I did do a search and didn't find anything before I posted as well and nothing was found. Odd.

I watched half the first show.

I believe this is the first old-fashioned comedy sketch show to be made in the UK for years. IIRC the one with Walliams and others was the last one. Since then it's been panel gameshows and stand-ups. I expect this only got commissioned because of her huge US fanbase.

She brought The Simpsons to the world, and for that she has a lifetime pass on any criticism.

And Adil Ray and the Irish bloke who pretends to be a woman, whose name I can't be arsed to lookup...

Honestly, it's no worse than a lot of 'new' comedy, but you do wonder why we really need it...

She has good joke writers and is partial to stealing jokes too.

Even if this were true, she went some years before MH and CT

Looks aren't everything. She's little more than a pig-faced joke thief.

I watched the 1st of her new shows. Some parts raised a titter, but I can take it or leave it. It's hardly "compelling viewing".
We all have many channels. Switch over!

Aaaarrrggghhh! bd - I had almost forgotten about Mrs Brown's Boys.

To add to the list - Sarah Millican, who seems to have made a career out of a stupid accent.

I think her impressions of Merkel, Smith and Dench are visually superb.

The sketch about middle classes dominating drama schools a good pitch.

The internet bloke in the cafe is a good enough idea (and looks creepily like Geoffrey Archer).

But none of it is funny enough IMHO. Perhaps because it isn't rude? After Spitting Image and latterly Dead Ringers I prefer some biting satire to go along with the impressions.

Not seen this new series but I never really found her old show particularly funny either.

Interesting point on female comedians, I agree there's not that many good ones compared to the amount of male comedians. Lucy Porter's quite good, Shapi Corsandi and Sarah Pasco are ok in short sessions but I've never seen them do a full gig. Susan Calman's good on panel shows, but I've never seen her do standup. Nina Conti also does some great stuff but is a ventroliquist rather than a conventional standup. I always found Victoria Wood a bit hit and miss, but then I think that's true of most sketch shows, I thought the same about The Fast Show.

I never know who they're impersonating on Dead Ringers so don't tend to find it particularly funny.

Merkel is the only one I find funny. I think that character could pretty much have a spin off and leave the rest behind.
