Funny you should say that Daz, I'm not not thinking about how much I'd love the GTR but more how much I'd miss my Cerb. Hmmm if there comes a time and I don't need the home gym then I can get its side of the garage back and give "Argento" a buddy.

Thanks for a all thoughts expressed as it's helped me but posed a slightly different problem, here goes..,. Rather than spend £40k on a GTR I could keep the Cerbera and put £15k into the 4.7ss (and other assoc. bits) upgrade. Then £25k could go into a not too shabby SL55 AMG (I know a good tuner) and I get top down motoring but ultimately have my Cerb for fun.

My Car is the Solution!! Ive blasted every GTR i have come across on track, several GTR owners have come and sought me out at TD's to ask how their 7/800BHp whoosher got flattened.
10 second qtr everytime i take it to a drag strip, but you still get wobbly windows, and organic electrics.

We all may be guilty of assuming what another driver wants in a car.
I personally respect the GTR for what it is, but have zero interest in owning one. I have plenty experience of high performance cars that are more modern than the Cerbera, but it's the Cerbera I want to take for a drive.
If you want to be flattered, get a GTR. If you want to brag, get a GTR. I racked up 800 miles in a V8 F-Type, and initially was bitterly disappointed in the car because it was a bit dull. It's fast and corners better than the TVR, sure, but it can do that whether I'm paying attention or not. If I were a wazzock who wants to look good to teenage girls, that would appeal, but I like reward for my efforts, so it didn't. The F-Type didn't make sense to me until I saw it as a wealthy person's commuter car. In that role, it makes perfect sense. I loved taking the modern performance car to work every day, whereas I only enjoy the Cerbera on nice days (not because I'm afraid of it, but because all the things it's brilliant at work best in nice weather - when driven carefully it's just a crap commuter car).
That brings me back to the GTR. I'd find the GTR as dull as ditchwater. The performance is irrelevant. A car, to me, is all about how it makes me feel. I disagree in the strongest sense that modern cars are as involving. They're not. What you get with a modern car is something easier to live with. I personally would only want that if the car was for commuting, and that brings up the problem of the F-Type which is the superior car. It looks better, sounds better and still goes faster than anyone else on the commute is going to give you the opportunity to do. Financially, the GTR offers all the expense of a Cerbera with its steep servicing and maintenance bills. That doesn't make any sense for a car which will be used daily.
Daily drives aren't fun in the long run. You're in them every day, and most of the time you'll be bored. Familiarity breeds contempt. My Jag XFR-S is a fantastic family car, but I've driven it 3 weeks in a row now, and I'm bored with it. One simply does not pick up the keys of the daily driver and go for a drive.
I can totally respect what the GTR's engineers achieved - it's a family car with supercar performance and running costs. My trouble is that I simply cannot see how adding those attributes together gives you anything you'd actually want to drive. Corner hard and you shred outrageously expensive tyres. Increase the volume via new exhaust you render it a headache of an everyday car. Etc etc etc. I just can't see the point.
Get the GTR and you'll be impressed with it. You'll be impressed with the launch, a few times. Until you realise it does the same thing every time - that's the whole point. Then you'll never use the launch control again. And so on.

Good call IMHO. Then in time upgrade the SL to a GTR. For those of us who "get" TVR (more fool us), a GTR is not a comparable replacement. Apples and Oranges.
I'd love a GTR. I really would. Best of breed without a doubt. But it couldn't replace the Tuscan no matter how much power or how much faster it was. I know I'd be faster point to point in a GTR. I suspect it would be more reliable and piss me off less too. But where is the fun in that?!
Enjoy the SL when you get it. Another car I admire, but again it's not a replacement, it's a complimentary sideshow!!!
