It's that time of year to pay the bills to get the car on the road.

Just changed insurer to Clasicline and am filling in the paperwork for the agreed value. Off the top of my head i'm going to propose £20k.

The car is a 98 4.2 Cerbera 50,000 miles. Just completed body off repair/galvanise/powder coat of the chassis. Rebuilt diff, upgraded suspension and brakes, new heads/gaskets plus lots of other minor mods.

Based on what I see in the classifieds I think this is reasonable.

What do others use for insurance agreed values?

I've just renewed with Footman James for the same value, mine is a '98 4.2 with 33K on the clock. Similar levels of work undertaken to yours.

Similar chassis restoration work but with a 4.7 rebuild. I have an agreed value of £40k from Classic Line so I would say you were undervaluing there. It took a little negotiation but the essence was that in event of a complete loss, in order to get back to the same position you would need to buy a similar Cerb and have to have all the work done again.

Totally agree.

£20k is too low.

Mmmm. Thanks guys.

Maybe i'll bump it up to £25k. I know it would cost more than £20k to recreate it.

I had to get a valuation from a specialist to use on my agreed value policy (mannings).. Do classic line allow you to value your own car?

Yes - Classic Line allow you to propose a value for your own car. They did require photographic and receipt evidence and a couple of calls to and fro between them, you and the underwriter in order to clarify and negotiate.

I've swapped to FJ this year (from Mannings) and have an agreed value of £20k too (seems to be a common theme). Mannings want a full independent report, FJ just asked for the price, agreed it there and then and charged £10. Nice and easy. (and premium down from £372 with track days to £164 and TDs at £60 a go)
