£10k Cerb? How risky?
Discussion
I bought this from "animal Mother" last year. He got it up to a good standard before i bought it. I spent another sub 10k replacing hoses, engine tuning at Topcats sorting out some leaks here and there also a new ECU. Just before i sold it, it had a new starter and slave fitted. Shame the owner who bought it from me in February is selling it already. The chassis is very good the engine is also strong, I did over 3000 miles in 7 months and used it for work a few days a week. It also had a real nice private plate which has been taken off. The big thing for me which is not stated in the advert is the bodywork, I would consider it very rough round the edges it's in need of a respray.
If anyone does want to know more details feel free to give me a PM.

Its my old car (sold last year), for £10k Id consider it a bargain. Was in a sad state but I spent "£$%ing 100's of hours getting it half decent again. Its no minter, but Id bet there are a lot worse out there.
Rebuilt 4.5 engine, new carpets, seats re-upholstered here and there, new AP clutch, chassis had body on POR15 treatment and was decent, GAZ golds, Raceproven clutch slave, silvertone full system, alloy clock surround from PMessling, leven bits and bobs, final suspension geo and engine setup was by Ian at Trackvroad, etc, etc, etc
Remembered some more stuff it had:Rebuilt 4.5 engine, new carpets, seats re-upholstered here and there, new AP clutch, chassis had body on POR15 treatment and was decent, GAZ golds, Raceproven clutch slave, silvertone full system, alloy clock surround from PMessling, leven bits and bobs, final suspension geo and engine setup was by Ian at Trackvroad, etc, etc, etc

ACT Coolant pipes and silicone hoses
ACT Exhaust manifold gaskets
Goodridge stainless steel brake hoses
Powerflex anti roll bar bushes
Ferrodo DS2500 front bake pads
Brake calipers stripped and painted
Bigger drilled front brake disc from CL Braking
The rebuilt engine came from itallyellow (Mike) but via someone else.
As I live in colchester I have just been up and seen it. To be honest, the car is actually in pretty good shape. I had a chance to chat to the auctioneer who's father owns a griffth. Seems it's at auction because it is.
The interior is lovely and should be as it had a 3500 re-trim some years ago. I has a glance through the history and 5he only thing that stands out is the engine. Around 5k was spent on it in 2006 5hen it had a new engine shortly after. So one can imagine what might have happened.
The outside is indeed. Terrible, and looks like it's had several bad attempts at respraying and there is evidence the original colour is a dark blue. The underneath is looking pretty good. Chassis is silver and so unlikely to be original, but 5he outriggers and general condition look good actually.
For some reason the ac has been removed as it's in the boot, along with a box if bits and a spare cclutch. Oh and a storm force cover..
The bottom line is this car will not go for 10k it's worth more than that. A good respray can set you back up to 4k but if you don't mind it looking tired 5hen game on.

"We charge a buyer’s premium of 20% subject to VAT."
Not a 10k cerb, unless it goes for 8k, I think some people could get well in over their heads if they don't look carefully!

Gosh! Is that the going rate for a buyer's premium? Seems a lot.Not a 10k cerb, unless it goes for 8k, I think some people could get well in over their heads if they don't look carefully!

It'll still be a 10K Cerb if it goes for £8333.33

I read it as 8064 for 10k.
Buyers premium is 20% subject to vat means 20% of purchase price with vat on top of the 20%.
Check with auction house before bidding, as the difference between interpretation is about 4% more I think
You're right, I thought VAT didn't apply to secondhand cars (only vans) so I missed the bit that said VAT was charged on their fees... caveat emptor!Buyers premium is 20% subject to vat means 20% of purchase price with vat on top of the 20%.
