I am just about to have my clutch sent off to Competition Clutches in Hunslet, Leeds. They can replace clutch plates to any spec, but I don't think that every component can be refurbed. Best to phone up and check. There is a real cost advantage to this route....and will wait to see if anyone thinks this is a false economy...............

Sent mine to the same place, it had hot spots on pressure plate and flywheel and driven plates were soaked in oil.

New linings, refaced plates and flywheel balanced, tested £180 two years ago all in.

I had the first Clutch changed at 32K.
Second broke after another 30K.
I fitted the third which has now lasted another 40K.

I worry that peeps don't re-set the adjuster rod to the Master Cylinder when they put new friction plates in and, hence, put too much pressure on the fingers.

Just my experience and opinion bow

The first one was done by John at David Gerald, Inkberrow, Worcs who was very good.

I did the second.

Had my plates relined by http://custombrakes.co.uk/

The cover was one of the Raceproved ones with the better fingers, showed no sign of wear at all so I was buggered if I was going to spend a grand on a full clutch. Cost me £75.00 for the pair, works prefectly.

Just been given an estimate of £120 per disc, depending on material. That's going to end up quite pricey with shipping and VAT on top.

They're based in Hunslet Leeds, so I guess they are also known as Competition Clutches?

Yes - its the same outfit in Jack Lane in Hunslet. I used them last time round and can recommend them highly.

Ideally a new or refurb clutch should be balanced on the flywheel before fitting. This service not offered by Competition Clutches. I used Agra Engineering in Dundee, as I know their work.

What specs did you give them for thickness and material?

Sorry for the late reply, have been sunning my ample ass by a pool in Greece.

IIRC 7.2mm total thickness. It required a little pedal adjustment to get it to disengage but after a couple of hours of deliberate abuse it was fine with the pedal adjusted back to where it was. This was with a Raceproved cover with the better fingers and a light flywheel from TVR Power. Still working lovely after several months.

agreed
the clutch pedal needs to set so you don't overstroke it - otherwise the fingers don't last
on mine I added a pedal stop behind the carpet to provide a more positive stop, as well as adjusting the pedal so it only just clears with it on this stop

Thanks Jon, I also seem to remember that I had a slip of paper with the last AP clutch pack I bought, that had 7.? mm on it.

I think I may go for 7.1mm as a safer option, cheers - Paul

They've just quoted me £130++ for the pair, and since I have a spare pair of discs I'll probably give that a go

My old ones aren't slipping yet, but while the gearbox is off it would seem foolish not to put fresh discs in

I'm fairly certain the AP part number is CP5351-1, which is DP215S/CORG-1.00x23-7.11

215mm diameter, Sprung Centre, Organic, 1" 23 spline, 7.11mm thickness approx £150++ each

Worth speaking to ClutchFix also, they have done a few now with great success.
