I am on the look out for the fibreglass inners of the box centre consul which holds the switches and stereo, my car has a modified one which looks nice but has no cut out for a stereo and no room for one plus is just sat on top the tunnel. I have the original facia but I believe they had a fibreglass inner which I could bolt to the bulkhead?
Cheers

Hi Dom

Is this for a 280i or 350i?

Ahhh...I have three but the first one at the top was for my 280i with smaller switches...So probably no good.

The second one is my 280i original and the third is one from a centre console that i have...I attempted to cover it with a want leaf but it needs some serious flattening with a mop.

I would suggest the second one and cut an opening in what you have there now and accommodate the metal plate with some small countersunk screws in each corner...Or studs to take an 8mm nut like the original had and the third one has...Which are located behind the heater control slot.

1st = You can have
2nd = 6 beer tokens + postage
3rd = 10 beer tokens + Postage and i will polish the lacquer.

Thanks Mark but it's not the facia as I already have the original one, it's the fibreglass inner that the facial glues to which you then screw to the dash/tunnel. As you can see from mine the bespoke facia is screwed in which means the leather outer just sits in place as I cannot screw it down.

Ahhh...That bit...Can you measure the inner width of the centre console...(Small square bit).

You might be lucky as the early 350i had the same as the 280i....

I could possibly repair the broken bit as this is where the control housing sits for the heater controls...

Let me know.

Cheers

Hi,

If it's no good for him, I'll be interested as the one in my yellow car is missing.

My GRP moulding was like those pics, (no middle bits anymore) and original panel was hacked about too, so I made an oversize aluminium panel, which curved around to fit the lower moulding curve, and added a fold at the top to make it stiffer.

I then bolted this panel to the remnants of the GRP moulding. Panel then had holes copied from original, but I squeezed in the extra switch as per 350 and left off the cig lighter)

The GRP bit only bolts to long centre console anyway, so there is plenty of adjustment so that everything lines up neatly and panel much is better.

Just suggesting this if you can't easily get a grp replacement.

You can black anodise ally to get a nice robust black finish.

The width is around 295mm Mark, that is the bit I'm looking for.
