I am going to mix and match if I can.
i.e. CR 1st - 4th and std or slightly longer 5th.
That is ideal IMO, I would love the CR for 1-3 or 1-4 but I would want the standard 5th. i would imagine the higher RPM on the motorway would become tiresome on long journeys. I would be very interested to hear if that can be done. i.e. CR 1st - 4th and std or slightly longer 5th.
Failing that you could always change the diff ratio to compensate but then you may as well go standard gearing.

Unless I have completely misunderstood how the T5WC works, the 5th gear is entirely independent of the rest of the box. So you can use any ratio that's available, with one major proviso:The output shaft on TVRs is a 27 spline shaft, that restricts what can be used by the fifth gearset. For example you cannot use the 'Sebring' 5th gear as per here

Of course you could replace the propshaft, but if you need someone to confirm that then you probably don't want to stray that from from factory anyway.
I rebuilt mine using John Readmans (Readman Racing) C/R gearset 1-4 with my original 5th. No whining, awesome acceleration from gears 1-4 and obviously the same revs per cruising speed. Pulling away in first is fine. No extra clutch slip needed and no I don't stall it. I often find at lower speeds I'm a gear lower than I used to be in.

Thanks to all on here for switching to Japanese (language I don't understand)The above however sounds fantastic. I may use standard gearing with tweaked diff after engine rebuild then when it is playing up speak to gearbox man about the above setup.
The added torque from the new lump should pull well at any rpm and a comfortable cruise. I think it works like me that?
After some good chats and seeing Aides new standard box. I too will now be going for standard ratios as primarily my car is for road and when in creeping traffic I rather not have to be slipping the clutch. so Standard box with a tweaked diff should give me the results I want that and the added torque from a new engine build.
Oh and the winning noise was nearly not recognisable until I started listening out for it.
