Congrats.

The hand brake cable should have an adjuster on it so a little nip up should help. Or it could be the rear pads and/or discs are low / getting thin.

My Tam, Sag and S only need a couple of clicks to hold in place.
True for the cars you mention, plus the Griff and Tuscan (that I know of), but the Cerb evidently has a different and more complex arrangement I believe. Advise given to me is that the handle should be adjusted as high as possible to give maximum leverage.

Drums? On a Cerb? Really???
Yes. The hand brake is a drum with its own internal brake shoes. The rear driving brake is a disk that is integral to the drum.

Not inmplying it is technically an issue. More that, as a low low volume producer why change things on one model. It's bad enough the AJP engines are a finite item - more so with the V8.

Seems to be a design requirement that they made things hard for themselves!

I thought all (non-hydraulic) handbrakes worked that way, I've never owned a car that didn't have brake shoes in a rear drum. Do more modern cars have something else?

Far more common nowadays to have an lever on the caliper that acts mechanically on the inner pad, caliper is floating hence the disc is squeezed.
Fewer parts = Cheaper, lighter...

Dear Stewart and RFC1,

If someone had written something that I thought was unusually stupid then I would have checked the facts to ensure that I wasn't going to say something that made me look like a complete wker.

Shame that you didn't

Dear Mr cerbera, I was only alluding to the fact that you didn't mention removing the calipers to allow removal of the brake discs, which may not be as easy as it should in principle......I should have mentioned that of course. sorry if you thought I was being rude. smile

To help ease your mind I too bought my car from Rob, something he quickly regretted I believe. What I can confirm is that he is a perfectionist and his care for these cars is second to none.
100% this. Disappointed Rob's left the fold, don't rule out him returning and bringing up the hat-trick some day! Joolz is the ideal man to take it to.

Yep, we've all had that buzz. I had it eight years ago and the pops and bangs still make me smile.

Glad you got sorted anyway.

Thanks for taking me out in your car all those months ago! That's what swayed me into buying one.

Glad to hear the car is everything you hoped for Mark. Six years or so ago when I bought my first Cerbera it was also Simon's car that gave me the push I needed. I'm sure I'll be back in Cerbera ownership one day, certainly as a forum it's one of the best areas of PH. The support and camaraderie between Cerbera owners is really brilliant. Thank you to everyone who has offered me advice over the years.
