I suppose Brexit is quite a dilemma for many (northern-) irish friends.

So Brexit means we need 3000 less bureaucrats and pen pushers?

There's a saving already.

Funny thing is, it was. The local car wash must have opened it without me realising.

I guess the future will prove whether your opinion was educated or not.
By the way that's 3,000 more additions to the load on the UK Welfare State which might be a negative factor on your savings.

I suspect "Dole" money is considerably less than the average EU employee earns so still a win situation.

As for negative effect on savings, it's hard to see what could be much more negative than the 1/4% I'm getting at the moment..... 0% I guess?

Quite apart from the personal cost to those involved, we are about to lose the economies of scale, since we will be 'taking back control' of all the functions whose costs were shared between 28 countries. So if you think we are about to save money, I suggest you are somewhat mistaken.

As a Swiss I'm not really convinced regarding your statement. There are only 12 countries paying more in than they receive. Germany is largest, around 14 billion euros negative. The UK (second largest) is about 11 billion negative ...

Of course, this needs to be related to a country's economy etc. but I just couldn't resist to put in my two cents. wink

True, but totally unrelated to the point I was making regarding administration and back office costs.

If you think that back office functions are irrelevant, try getting paid when your employer forgets that they actually do matter.

In a 52-48 referendum this would be unfinished business by a long way. If the remain campaign win two-thirds to one-third that ends it.
Quoting Farage to bolster my argument is almost tantamount to admitting defeat, but whatever...

Yup - Rosso Pearl

I know the argument is lost already but 'The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is that Good Men Do Nothing'

I'm not comparing my pathetic sloganeering to the acts of true heroes, but it doesn't hurt to make yourself heard.

Never a good idea to discuss sex, politics or religion on a forum, but you started it laugh
Consider that there are those (amongst the probable racists, xenophobes and of course the 'economically illiterate' rolleyes) who saw the corruption, waste, and general undemocratic, unaccountable farce of the EU as 'evil' and decided, as 'good men', to do something, and so voted to leave.
Just sayin'.

If you think the appropriate response is to threaten 3 million EU citizens (some of whom are my friends, neighbours, and colleagues) with deportation then I reckon you are mistaken - that is truly evil.

No such threats are being made. HTH
