Does anyone have a spare one that they are willing to part with? ...this is the gear on the left hand side of the above pic.

It's quite scary that critical parts like this are so difficult to find. What options were you considering had TVR Parts not found a used one for you?

Well Paul, I wasn't panicking just yet as I considered that I had two further options:
i) Reclaiming the original. I'd seen 12 tonnes on my press before deciding not to proceed with that idea, but perhaps by machining/eroding out the stub of the shaft that was now 'friction welded' in. It might've needed sleeving but the teeth are all intact; I'm not throwing it away!
ii) Having one made. Lord knows how much it would've cost, but a local firm www.jswl.co.uk has the wherewithal to back engineer just about anything.
But obviously I'm very relieved that TVR Parts Ltd were willing and able to locate and supply a good s/h one for what I consider to be a reasonable cost, all credit to Martin. Picked it up yesterday as they're only about 30 mins from me.
Also learnt that there are two versions which are not interchangeable (the entire gear train must be swapped).
