From all I have read on the progress of Project Phoenix I'm of the understanding that Ash is making very little changes to the exterior lines of the car to keep it as true as possible.

All the magic is happening underneath and I certainly can't wait to see the finished article!!

Waiting in great anticipation

I'll never be impressed by any bodywork changes to the Cerb, cos I'm a conservate old fogey. I don't even like the speed 12. I would be very impressed to see it on a racetrack, and I would bring popcorn to any talk on the development issues.

Call me a neysayer, but I've enjoyed driving my car for the last two years and when I'm finally finished with it, It'll go to its next owner as a fully working version of an original to keep the Cerb name alive. I hate it when I here about a cerb destroyed while driving cos the numbers keep dwindling, but at least thats an end for the car doing what it was designed for. But as for the phoenix, so far the story is one less Cerb on the road.

Valid points there Julian.

I too have kept my Cerbera original, other than the headlight conversion which came courtesy of a
previous owner, I have declined all kinds of offers for upgrades to this that and the other.

I admire the beauty, the concept and the power as originally intended, why change perfection eh?

That said, as you and I both know, 'perfection' would not have been achieved without development,
pushing the boundaries and let's be honest, the balls to do it!

Take the Speed 12. Having been closely associated to it for a year now and knowing the evolution,
which ironically, is now only seeing the light of day, the car is simply breath taking.
A personal dream of mine came true last year when I was strapped into the rocket and was able
to feel first hand, the explosion of power to face distorting levels, however, that was then and
yet now? The 12 is even better!

The 'dreams' of the original development team are being brought to life by it's new owner.
Nothing is being done to boost an ego, there is none there to boost, but the attention to detail
by him in ensuring that the 12 will perform as it stated on the tin, is the reality which apart from
thrilling thousands of people, might, just might, also help others.

The 12 is iconic ( 100,000 hits on it's website in one month underlines that! ) but there are plenty
who have their own dreams and ideas to take the Cerbera to a new place.

Whilst perhaps like you, I'd never do it, the likes of Ash who have poured a fortune into taking their
dream to reality, should be applauded for pushing the limits yet further.

Who knows, their deep pockets and vision could result in mods to help us one day, but whatever
the outcome, at the end of the day, it is their time, their money and their car to do as they please,
so who are we to rain on their parade?

I'll enjoy mine just as you enjoy yours, but personally I also stand in awe seeing projects like the
12 and the Phoenix developing

Credit where credit is due.

Mark,
you obviously don't know ASH.
Let me tell you the Pheonix cerb is for real, you will see in good time.
I have been sworn to secrecy so can't tell you about the pics ASH was kind enough to show me.
One thing is for sure it will happen soon.

I could be wrong but I thought that pheonix was a Greek MYTHICAL bird, why O why this childish secrecy
BMW, Ford etc I can see there need to keep development work a secret, but some half arsed attemt to 'improve' one of the best looking cars ever designed seems pointless.

And Ash has helped ensure that the SP6 debate and solutions have moved on thanks to getting his engine builders into the TVR scene.
I agree that a Cerb with minor mods is as far as it should do (eg ECU, suspension, brakes, Spiders and breathing would be my limits) however I dont think that Ash's venture is comparable to others fettling. I applaud him for having the strength of character, the determination, the vision, the cash etc to do something quite so mad! I cant wait to see it.

Ash doesnt seem to understand the concept of "half arsed" - with every bit of new information I hear about it, it appears to be more of an extraordinary project. Please do not mistake it as an "attempt to improve", its a huge transformation.

All good for the Cerbera and TVR community as far as I see it.

Good luck once more Ash.

Now, i'm a purist myself when it comes to messing with cars (plus i know diddly squat about them anyway) and i would never dare to embark on something such as the Phoenix. But one must commend Ash and others like him for having the guts to do it - what would we talk about otherwise?

My view is the Phoenix is not really going to be a modded Cerb - as far as i can gather there will be very few Cerb bits left in there - its more of a project into the unknown and will deliver something new, never seen before, and only marginally a TVR (but still a TVR nonetheless).

I think anyone that is so obviously into Cerbera's and is an enthusiast should be afforded a little respect. I don't understand why there is quite so much back-biting between owners on here. Even when the guy has suffered a recent bereavment people are still trying to stick the knife in.

When the car does get unveiled and you still think its s4it, give constructive criticism on why you think it is but ATEOTD it's Ash's car and he can do WTF he likes!

Whoa there, cos I don't understand. There is very little back biting on this forum, its probably the best behaved in the whole of pistonheads. Almost everyone here has given help to those who need it. And no one has a stuck a knife anywhere. And even more to suggest we can't talk about this because it says something negative about his recent bereavement is down right insulting to anyone with an opinion different to yours.

If someone, anyone, posts about their car whether it be ASH with his Drag Cerb, of ruff dug with the wing on the back of the Cerb, or even someone wanting to change the colour of their wheels they do so in the knowledge they will get opinions. If you want every opinion to be the same or at least take offence to every opinion that isn't yours then you are going to be perpetually dissapointed.

Ash knows this, and if you look way back over threads where we have both posted you'll see that sometimes we agree and sometimes we disagree, but I believe we both have respect for others opinions, but what we do the same is give each other the benefit of our honesty, we don't call each other names, and we both care about the cars.

My comments weren't directed at any individual. I made the comment as I seem to remember a similar trend on other threads when it comes to Ash's car. There is always the odd comment along the lines of it taking so long and only being a figment of his imagination etc. Having been in a similar situation myself with a less glamorous automotive project I know how annoying that can get.

No back-biting? What about the 'how much bhp' thread that ran to 30 odd pages? It was like civil war. I wasn't posting then as I didn't have a Cerb but I was watching.

No back-biting was intended, my main point was if your are going to do something just get on and do it, and if for some stupid reason you think it is SO top secret why mention it in the first place. If there is some major breakthrough great, but lets face reality its not likley is it. I'm all for mods don't get me wrong but can it be this 'Second coming' that it's being billed as.
