at the weekend I decided (like yer do) to try and take the inner door panel off the Cerb passenger side and see if i could adjust the window height to get rid of some wind noise at speed (drivers side is fine).

Anyway that failed its still noisy but I did notice that the door speaker is completely fibreglassed over behind.

my knowledge of acoustics is limited but as far as I know with no air movement behind a speaker it will have an infinite baffle effect and sound essentially bassless with very precise treble (not much use to all but the most anal of hifi buffs)speakers are designed to have air behind them.

has anyone tried carving off the fibre glass? will this lead to more problems with leaks etc?

My thoughts exactly when i removed my original speakers, Found not only were the speaker positions different but the doors were constructed differently. Not surprised really its a tvr so perfectly acceptable. Drivers door had a plastic cup blocking access to the inner door so i simply removed it. passenger door was sealed so i figured if its good enough for one door...... Cut out the offending fibreglass and with minimal trimming of inner and outer panel you can get a larger better quality speaker in, Sounds 50 times better
