what to look for when buying a cerbera 4.2 1997

hi guys looking at geting a 4.2 on a 1997/ 98 n/p reg
around £16000 pounds what are the things that go bad on them i had a mint 400se before are they abit better made than them what about parts dear or bloody dear are they good for everyday use and relable car thanks for some help

Generally you will be buying at the low end of the market and are likely to buy a car that is expensive to keep. I would reckon that even doing a lot of stuff yourself you would need to allow £2K pa for maintenance.
They can be a good every day car but this might mean greatly increased annual maint costs.
So if you can afford 2k pa (assuming a 6k pa mileage) then go for it. although 3K pa is prob nearer the mark as a standard annual running cost.

Get a good independant to look after it and drive it as often as possible, its alot better when used properly.

Its my dads only car and is used for the daily commute / trackdays / sprints/ hillclimbs / extended Lemans trips (via mulhause ) etc etc

Overall it has cost him alot less to run than some of the cerberas on this site which arent used much. Its quite practical for a supercar really. Nice boot, three seats, reasonable fuel economy, starts every time... Its just a matter of finding a good one and keeping it that way.
