Insurance renewal time once again! This time its a bit more of a problem. I've had a 96 4.2 for the past 10 months and a chimera before that which have both been covered as personal cars on a motor trade policy which i've had for years. The level of cover isn't really good enough for the cerbera so was planning to get specific cover this year. As i'm only just 25yrs old this is proving to be very difficult especially as i can't carry my full no claims from my trade policy over. Does anyone no any insurance company's worth trying who might give me a quote under £4000?!

I ended up with Peart

Also try Mannings, ( you may need to be a TVRCC member)
Sunninghill ( but they have just put a lot of prices
up ) and believe it or not, Tesco's ( although it
causes problems if you want track days and trips abroad)

Hope that helps.

Tesco's came in at £980 with us last year on a '97 4.2, and we were 24 when we took out the policy....

The best quote I could got (and which I took):

24 years old, 1 years NCD, 1 accident in the last 3 years, 99 4.2 Cerbera.... £2200 with Tesco for 10k miles per annum. Direct Line said they'd haven been "competitive" if I'd been a year older.

The irony there of course being that Direct Line underwrite Tescos!

I use ClassisLine @ Hinckley. The policy is a special thru Royal Sun Alliance.

I mirror my NCB from my everyday car onto this policy which is a massive bonus.

So I pay £400 something on a 7.5K per annum limited mileage with agreed value. Policy also includes breakdown cover.

Not bad at all considering I pay £600 on my old 2.5 Vectra - so all Vecra drivers aren't tossers!!

I think the only stipulation is you need to have had 'experience' with other high performance cars - which you have with the Chim.

Hope this helps

Nick.

Directline may undertake your no claims if you can get in writing from your previous fllet manager that you've had no claims. They just did it for a mate of mine in his M3. That brought his insurance down from thr wrong side of £4000 to just under £1900!!

There are some insurers that take a note from a previous boss as no claims, and once you've had one years insurance with them they'll give you a cover note for your x years with company + 1 year with them. Just means you takea hit for the first year.

You don't happen to live in, for example, Moss Side Manchester do you?! I got myself a quote (Quoteline) on a 4.5 Cerbera in Moss side and in [the relative haven that is] the Isle of Man.

Isle of Man postcode=£780
Moss Side postcode=£1,806

Good luck

Steven, 25, 5yr NCD, 3 points, Isle of Man!
