Bring on the world cup indeed. We haven't peaked yet. At least after our unbeaten run (sorry did I say unbeaten) we've given you something to think about.

SimonSparrow, hope you do manage to import, been to NZ, north and south, fantastic place. There was an article in sprint not so long ago about a guy who imported his chimera. I'll look up the details if you like?

Jamie Heasman (not sure of spelling) is an "English man in NZ" and has a modified Chimaera out there. I think he visits these pages, but used to be a regular on the TVRCC Yahoo group.

Talking to the guy at the club in NZ he said there were about 40 TVR's in NZ - a lot more than I expected

9-10 Griff's a number of Chim's and various other models

With the high NZ dollar it is a great time to import a TVR to NZ - there is a Cerbie and a few Griffs but have been held in transit

With the importation rules changing you must show an offset crash test before you can register them.

The NZ club is trying to submit a proposal to land transport to have this reveiwed and TVR regarded as a limited production car but this is a max of 500 cars / year / manufacturer. They are trying to get this level raised or have the level applied to each model which would then allow them in without the crash test.

Fingers crossed - I would love to take one back when I go home one day

Thats good to hear. I've looked on www.ltsa.gov.nz and figured I could apply for an exemption.

My brother is quite involved in the modified/kit car scene, and they can get registered for the road. So there must be a way....

When do you head back Allblack?

yeah but now the cops back home can arrest you and seize your car for things like unnecessary acceleration and spinning of the wheels causing loss of traction.....how long would you last in a Tuscan or Cerbera... not to mention the 100kph open road speed limit which they will nick you at 103 kph....

Its getting pretty draconian the world over, ironic when all the car makers are making increasingly faster cars....

The new laws in NZ are mainly aimed at 'boy-racers' who spend a lot of time roaring around urban areas annoying people.

Apart from speeding ($650 fine and 50 points) I've never had any problem with the cops in my very loud, very fast, old car.

I drove a 55,000 mile S6 Cerb today, having driven a few others (V8's included) it felt quite tight and firm although the interior was very tired with wires exposed and broken leather etc. How long should S6 engines last and is tidying up the interior a big job.

Rappa,

Where did you drive the 55000 mile cerb then? It could have been mine if it was at Peninsula? In answer to your questiosn it has had 4 engine rebuilds, and since the last one in October never had a problem.

cheers

only 4? pretty good, then!! how many of those did TVR pick up the tab for?

I don't have a problem with the S6 (my brother's T350C and mate Scotty's Tuscan are seriously quick - faster than my Cerb 4.5 up to 100), but looking at the Tuscan forum here at the moment makes scary reading. Top six threads all concerning the dreaded "R" word!!

cheers

Rappa / Beemer,

Yes they were major rebiulds, all taking about 8 weeks, TVR picked up the tab for all of them.

The last one was excellent, never had a problem with it at all after the last one.

The only problems I did have were a dodgy spark plug and the lambda sensors, all replaced and run very well after that.

The inside was a bit tatty but that was because of overuse, I.e. I sat in it every day for 50000 miles so not too bad, when I spoke with Richard, he was getting it all recovered.

The rest of the car was perfect, It has had new suspension all round, new brakes, wiper motor etc....

I didn't wan't to sell it but I needed something more practical as my son was getting bigger.

As for servicing etc Colin at Peninsula did all of it and he knows the car inside out.

It would be a good buy very quick as well!!!

Thanks Martin, The only question now is how long until the next rebuild, surely TVR cannot go on rebuilding Speed Six engines.
