Don't Toyo do some sort of special compound in the T1-S for TVR now? I'm sure I heard this somewhere. Probably only available through dealers and probably very expensive as a result. Worth looking into though.

Don't be tempted to use 235/40 18 on the front, mine had these on when I bought it and they hit everywhere, full lock, over bumps, under braking. Had to drive like a granny till I got the 225/35s on. Rears seem fine at 245/40 though.

Tony,

Try Woods Tyres on 01702 479234. They are in Westcliff, opposite Chalkwell Park. I have been using them for years, their prices are good, and they never seem to have trouble getting the right tyres in stock.

Cheers,

Neil

Aaargh! Spent ages ringing up places getting advised on the correct profile.

On the bright side, it's only taken a quick phone-call to get them to agree to take the old ones back + get next day delivery on 35mm profile ones.

Thanks for the warning on this before they were fitted & it was too late... Owe you guys a pint at Mania next weekend!

Mine was delivered March this year with 225/35/18 front and 255/35/18 rear. Same as 2001 car. Tuscans come on 40's as they fit. Cerbera's don't clear the 40 profile tyre so 35 profile it has to be.

Thats strange. Never had any of those problems. I wonder if the differences are the spacer setup.

What wheels are you using andy? I'v got spiders on a 98 4.2, dont know if later cars that came with 18s standard have diffferent set up? maybe modified wishbones cos my old tyres didnt seem to fit the wheel arch if you know what I mean.

Sods law isn't it. After all the ringing around I managed to get two rear TOYO's the next day and at a reasonable price from the dealer at the end of my road!!

Must admit, I can feel the difference already.

Thanks for all the help people, really appreciate that.

Just a quick question, are new Cerbera's being fitted with TOYO 225/35/18's on the fronts cos TOYO don't make a 235/35/18 tyre??

No-one makes a 235x35/18.

Your choices are 225x35, 225x40 or 235x40.

Before the porosity issue raised it's head, the 18" RL7 wheels were better suited to Cerbs than the spiders. The fronts were narrower at 8" and therefore 225x35's fitted with the sidewalls somewhat more upright than they are with spiders. (The rears were wider at 9" which marginally better suited 255's too). The offsets matched the requirements - no rubbing, front or rear, and no steering lock reduction. Let's face it, the Cerb turning circle is hardly awe-inspiring to begin with.

Ahhhh, life was simple then!

I've got 18" Tuscan spiders (2 front 2 rear as opposed to 4 fronts) with 40 profiles (235f, 245 rear). The clearances were OK no probs, then I went away on holiday with wife, baby and loads of luggage ......... not so good ...... the rears were banging on the wheelarches all the way to the Lakes! I may have to get some stoppers, nitrons , 35's or just drive it on my own..

Mine's a 98 4.5 (standard suspension) with 4 Tuscan Front 18" spiders through a warranty upgrade with TVR (i.e TVR recommended four Tuscan fronts and not to use Tuscan rears).

To stop any wheel rubbing problems at the rear it was recommended that 255/35's were used on the back with the correct spacers. For the front 225/35's with the correctly set-up spacers/steering locks to stop all rubbing problems.
