Just got a call from the garage...
They have solved the emissions problem, compression test came back fine. new plugs and throttle pot sorted it. However...
The fking steering wheel electrics have stopped working again!!!!!!!!!!
This is really starting to piss me off now. Today is also the last day for the retest so it needs to be sorted today. Really starting to loose hope that it will be ready for chatsworth now.

IT NOW HAS AN MOT!!
Steering wheel electrics problem was the ribbon cable coming loose.
I managed to get the car down to Esser works on Saturday morning to get the paintwork sorted however it took me a while to get it started. For some reason it was not firing even though the fuel pump was pumping fuel through (although it was not straining like it should do when pressure is achieved in the rail) The fuel regulator and pump are both new. I got it started in the end by putting a direct 12v feed to the fuel pump from a spare battery and spinning the pump for a while. I then went to start the car and it fired up. It had no problem starting when the car was warm. Any suggestions??

Superb thread, a joy to read.
I dont have a TVR, and doubt I ever will, but I can say you chaps seem to have the best 'community' I've seen. Respect to you all
Glad it was a good read, it sure has been a roller coaster of emotions! And yes, the TVR community is great. I could not have done this without the help of fellow PH'ers!I dont have a TVR, and doubt I ever will, but I can say you chaps seem to have the best 'community' I've seen. Respect to you all

I took it for a test drive yesterday and the suspension settings definitely need some fine tuning but it seems to run very smoothly. Power steering rack is leaking from the the smaller copper pipe so I need to replace that. The larger copper pipe I had replaced with a flexible one from Pirtek.
My only real niggles now are, some slack in the steering rack. Is there any adjustment on the rack to tighten it up? The play does not seem to be coming from the UJ's but I may just replace them anyway. The second problem is a sort of clicking noise when the car is moving. It increases and decreases with wheel speed and makes no difference if in gear or not. Pulling on the handbrake does not make a difference but applying the brakes makes the noise go away. I cannot seem to replicate the noise when the wheel is jacked up and I spin it. I also do not know which wheel(s) it is coming from.

I get this noise and it's the pads rattling, a wee bit of silicone on the back of them should cure it My only real niggles now are, some slack in the steering rack. hey if he's coming up for pictures I'll have to put my bling wheels on!
Mark, the rack slackness, if you're certain all the joints are tight and have no play then you can remove excess backlash via the adjuster on the top of the rack. Slacken the 19mm nut and gently tighten the allen grub screw. You will only need to tighten it a little before trying the steering again.
Rattle sounds like pads to me too.
