the front splitter on a cerb has jack st to do with down force or anything else it only stops hot air flow stalling in the engine compartment. it disrubts the air flow and allows the hot air to be deflected to the underside of the car and allows the radiator to be cooledgetmecoat

I had my son who works with an F1 team make mine. I fitted it right across i think about 33" wide at the very back of the flat grp panel befor the engine bay and as close to the centre of the wheels as possible so it went up over bumps along with the wheels. It was an 1 1/2" flat with three pop rivets one each end and one in the middle. I made the angle about 20 degrees and the same 1 1/2" I am going to recut it to about an 1" just for those dam bumps as it brings my ground clearence down to 3 1/2" It really does work well and now get no bonnet movement at all.

will do although this picture has it the other way round which i am still not sure works better but will tend to catch more but will post it. When i am back in the Uk in a few weeks I am going to get my lad to trim it and fit the otherway and see what difference it makes

that shows it from the back looking forward when i had it facing fwrd it was just a little long and caught any low bump the next pic shows it a bit better on the car

this is taken from the front and i put it right at the back of the grp flat befor it goes into the engine bay and its just about level with each wheel so will go up over bumps along with them. After I did this I drove from Oxford to London (not slowly) and as we all have done forgot to lock the bonnet and it did not move at all in fact I reckon there had to be a negitive airflow efect in the engine compartment as there is no way the bonnet did not even move at all and I have a lightweight so its very flexible. Anyway will cut and refit it and see the difference. Hope that helps??

Thanks Michael..so it is the same idea as the Racing Green one...

Only fitted the other way round. There is an old thread about this item, whare I also saw SimonKD's lipspoiler. Generally accepted is the facing backward position.

This is one thing I am going to do this winter!!

Hi Simon, I'd be interested in one if you still have one left for sale? I managed to leave mine on a Belgian motorway biggrin
Cheers

Hi everyone

Quick question - does anyone know if these are still being made/where to get one?

Have fitted a new lip spoiler to mine and that's fine however this might be even better....

Thanks!

CarbonAl still has the molds so they can still be made, either glass or carbon. Not just a stick on job though, needs some bodyshop work. The front chin has to be sanded back and recessed so the splitter sits flush with the rest of the chin.

You can see where the join is in this mock up, the splitter is 'kind of' wedge shape.

And when its finished and blended it looks like this.

Just spoken to my mate who works for Alan, they are extremely busy at the moment so maybe something for the new year, PM me if interested.

Steve Heath is working on a rubber undersplitter at the moment - meant to be ready before the end of the year.

Having ripped off several metals ones on speedbumps, low driveways and the silverstone graveltrap (getmecoat), I've now decided to give this a go when Steve's ready.

Thanks for the replies guys and certainly looks good - although I've just worked out that living in central London it might not be the most praticle addition to my Cerb as it will probably be scrapped by the first set of speed bumps I meet!

That aside, it looks fantastic so will be in touch with them in the new year - thanks again for the piccys :-)

Sorry lads,

somehow I missed this thread originally, despite that first photo having been taken by me.

The standard deflector almost never hits anything as long as at least one of the front wheels goes over the obstacle.

Its placement is so close to the front axle axis that it is cleared by normal wheel travel (235/35 x 18). The usual thing for me to scrape is the mid-front/rear axle chassis tubes.

( I say 'normal', of course, because I did rip it off on a Car Park kerb - Christ knows how ! )

ETA

Saw this as a splitter which I thought 'looked' good....

Oh, and one final thing. I was told by the Service manager of a respected Independant that the spoiler on a Chimp IS mounted the other way round to a Cerb which has caused some closing-time arguments in the past..

The correct way round for a Cerb is as fitted in the picture at the start of this thread. (On Pauls Car,)

Anyone still after one I still have a few left in 316 stainless steel and aluminium. See Classifieds section.

Simon
