Difference between 4.5 Lightweight vs 'Normal' 4.5 Cerbera

The answers are all above. They were called lightweight despite the only real lightweights being the 6 mentioned above.
yep - I know - I can read - you seemed quite unaware of what a lightweight actually was at the start of the thread, so I'll stick to taking Nemasis up on his offer.Chewitt said:

There is confusion between the Lightweight from the factory and the Lightwieght from the PR department.
GT's are a seperate kettle of awesome, I know there is one out there, possibly a couple more - different chassis pick up points etc etc..
Hi, are you sure, my 98 4.5 has a GT stamp on the block by the engune numberGT's are a seperate kettle of awesome, I know there is one out there, possibly a couple more - different chassis pick up points etc etc..

Completely different matter. One that we've never really cleared up, but a GT engine stamp possibly means interesting engine internals - IIRC there was a GT one stripped down that had a forged crankshaft? Ours also has a GT stamp - maybe its special internally, maybe not - but its shrugged off 94k with ease so far.
The reason for this is because!!!!!! When the 4.5 engine was going to be put into the cerbera the first cars were called GT's, and even the badge had cerbera GT on it. This was the factory clarification so when the cars were on line, production staff knew what the spec was either cerbera,so 4.2,or GT 4.5, because in the early childhood of the finest car produced 4.2 had aircon as an option and the 4.5/GT it was standard. As a result the monica then stuck, and if you look at a 4.5 ecu,or the engine, it will undoubtable say 4.5GT or just plain GT depending on the builder. There is no difference between 4.5 and GT, The different chassis as someone has said about they could be the 6 pinewood cars which started life off as 4.2 for PR sales and then most were converted to GTs to develop the car, they do have different suspension set ups and mounting points, but performance wize there was NO difference, the only so called difference came with the introduction of the Red Rose Package, which ironically so were most of the LW's.So does anyone on here own Cerbera B001050 GTS Viper Blue, Red Rose, On production line on 25/01/2002 because this IS a true light weight.Right im off to church.

Mine has 4.5 GT on the ECU, but it's just a 1999 4.5.

Yes I've got chassis no. B001050.As you say, GTS Viper Blue, factory Red Rose upgrade.
The factory build sheet says 'Lightweight body as per press car'.
It also says 'Excellent build quality please as per PW' (the first owner was a friend of Wheeler).
Whilst the bonnet definitely feels more flexy/flimsy, the wings and bootlid don't.
This has been the most reliable car I've owned in 30 years.
Also I don't know what one poster's remark about 'cheaper front discs' means
- mine are large 322mm (same as Sagaris), still original after 50K miles and
would stop a train (especially with Brummie's Carbon Lorraine pads and racing
brake fluid).

Again I was referring to the MkII not the real LW's. Earlier 4.5s came with the two piece front brakes with separate bells. The later ones had the cheaper one piece as per the Tuscan S. These are the drilled ones. They arent as good as the two piece and they are cheaper. However I have found them easier to live with than the two piece just not as effective as the 'better' ones when they are working well. The single piece ones are likely to crack if used on trackdays I believe. - mine are large 322mm (same as Sagaris), still original after 50K miles and

Aha - mystery solved re the unusual suspension v's GT.congratulations you have a true LW, i remember the car and it was inspected by PW himself after it had been finalised and finished. And he drove the car to make sure it was as per press car. and people say that TVRs are unreliable, see we could make em!!! i would now like to go onto thanking a certain russain and his ill chosen oppos but i dont want to get started on that one,and so to the second LW ive found which is the press car mentioned, Cerbera B001440 Formula Chameleon Green, Red Rose Spec,Light weight Body, on line 24/08/2001 number plated as PN51 XBV.

Nemasis, I can't remember the plate, but that sounds like tvrtones car, the former press car... That was weighed at Brabus and was quite heavy IIRC?
Edit: Yep, its the press car, owned by a PHer. Brabus weighed it in at 1275kilos with a full tank, so not that light weight?

Thanks for the info nemasis, fascinating stuff. Can you clarify what you mean by the bit in bold above? Any juicy gossip for my "LW", B001079?Tyre Smoke said:
