I agree, the market will change in the blink of an eye too, I think it'll just take a few to sell.

Perhaps if a few Ageras change hands for big money it'll drag the rest of the market up, like the F did for the Zonda.

I did look at Shoebag's green car at Bob Forstners but am put off by how difficult they are to sell.
To me the performance / £ and exclusivity is unbeatable, but to lock up this amount of money and not be able to 'access' it should i want to, is the sticking point.

If you want info on this car speak to Dick Lovett in Cardiff - Tina will probably be able to help you. The car is still locally owned as far as I know and was with them on SOR. Its been up for sale since the owner bought it and he paid £315k according to the "internet".

The car belongs to a man named Grant Evans, a south wales entrepenuer that has made a fortune selling mobile phone contracts (cold calling on a massive scale by all accounts). He has a fleet of top end cars that all wear the initials GE on the plates. The car was originally owned by a Sheikh or Sultan by all accounts!

Iv come across him numerous times in various bits of kit, all I will say is that he has very little mechanical sympathy and has driven erratically everytime iv seen him, the most notable was a four car unertake before cutting in front of me inches from my front bumper.

All I can say is anything he's owned has probably been ragged, from cold and not cooled down etc etc.

I would use the information supplied by T-Pot and my self to do some research into the car & the owner thats for sure! As T Pot explained, the guy has earned his money in a very controversial way, forums online explain woeful tales of exploiting young school leavers to sell what was basically a con. Due to this, Grant Evans has already had his Lamborghini torched at his home (I believe this was the black Murcielago Roadster) by what was thought to be a disgruntled employee.

Apparently at his peak (trading as Landmark Communications)Grant Evans employed 7,000 call center workers throughout the South Wales region. If he has 7,000 disgruntled and unpaid employees, I can only begin to imagine how many unhappy customers/suppliers etc he has.

He appears a VERY showy person so if anyone has had any dealings with him, Im sure they will know about this rather unique car! Approach with caution.

P.S. I also heard the rumor that the car was spun, apparantley this caused him to pull the plug on the "super mods" he had planned for the car (1100bhp), then again, the last I heard he was expecting a factory fresh Veyron last Christmas, so it cant all be true especially if hes gone in to exile!

Many thanks for the insight into 'GE'

I hear a lot about Koenigseggs being unreliable, but only from people who haven't owned one.

Everyone says they have electrical problems which i suspect is down to the special light weight battery that they have going flat. (I think Broughton's said to me something about you not being able to trickle charge them - ?)

Of the 3x UK cars that i've considered one had circa 6,500 miles the other 4,600 miles and now this one is 3,500 miles

Possibly a car has had a problem and the story has been repeated so many times that its passed into folklaw. With so few cars doing such low mileages i'm not sure its possible to accurately make such a sweeping statement - or am i just trying to convince myself as [at the right price] i'd like to buy one.

T_Pot, I have had several experiences with this vehicle retailing it twice and on one of those occasions to Grant himself who whilst he may drive cars quite hard was always sympathetic to the cars needs regards maintenance and care. It is quite a late car and therefore offers some of the better build finishes found on the CCX model. 100 IAN, as mentioned above I have had a little bit of experience with Koenigsegg and have covered quite a few miles in them. The reliability is actually very good even on the very first cars, I have never had one let me down. The primary reason you actually ever get any problems is not down to electrical issues but lack of electricity! Which is generally user error by the owner or person in charge of maintaining the car when it is not being used.

The battery on a Koenigsegg is quite a fiddly thing combined with a constant power drain on the battery from the alarm system means that they must go on trickle charge when they are not being used (yes trickle charge is possible and every car is supplied with a charger from the factory!). When owners do not put their cars on charge and the batteries go flat the car will obviously not start. Whats more is the style of battery fitted means if they get too low on charge then they cannot be rehabilitated and must be replaced, not a quick nor cheap thing to do due to the type of battery and location.... Hence people thinking they are unreliable as they are generally unable to use them when they want as they have not taken care of them in-between wanting to use them!

For the new Agera Koenigsegg have completely changed the type of battery and the electronic system attached to it. The batteries now have an automatic cut off and you could leave the car all year long without charging it come back and fire the car up first time. What is great is this can be retro fitted to all earlier Koenigsegg models. Reliability issue over!

If you want a Koenigsegg you should go for it, they are epic to drive when driven correctly which is hard due to the supercharger setup on the V8 and residually I think you will start to see them coming back up in value soon given the recovering market in the luxury sector. We used to sell quite happily and quietly the CCRs for £340k-360k all day long in the good times and I think you will see that again soon. Today is never a better time to be buying a Koenigsegg, if you want to know anything specific drop me a PM.

Not from my knowledge, if the car had been involved in an accident then I would have known about it as body repairs would have been carried out by us or the factory, the roof was the only item ever to be painted as when the wrap was removed previously some of the paint on the edges came off with it, it looks perfect now as in the pictures you have no doubt seen.

The car did have a few upgrades, mechanical done at Grants request, maybe this is what your source refers to as its time in the workshop?

I know this car very well, it was the first automatic gearshift car we delivered to the UK and with a very beautiful carbon/white bodywork finish very smart car.

Honestly I think the price is far too low for the car I believe the market can take a higher value and the car is certainly worth every penny.

The owner has had the car for well over a year and maybe just wants to try something else... This is quite common.

It is obviously not a great price for the car at resale and yes the owner will be taking not the most pleasant pill of his life. However this is probably due to the market being very much talked down by comments posted on places like PH, in publications like the recent poorly written article in EVO (based very much on complete pre-perception of a brand, before even trying it, shocking!), along with negative chatter to be fair in the motortrade itself, some of it (not a lot) substantiated but quite a lot of it based on hearsay and lack of actual facts.

We certainly hope to improve the market for Koenigsegg but there is only so much we can do on our own and with the factory's assistance. We really do need the backing of PetrolHeads everywhere to believe and support this brand and to trust that it is just as good as other small manufacturers like Pagani who seem to receive such (deserved) praise for almost anything they do.

Paint the bonnet white and that will be perfect! Good work on speccing Saywell's Agera too Tommy, looks stunning in the metal. thumbup

I saw this CCR at Broughtons and MPH ages ago now, and it was in excellent condition then and being looked after well.

That CCR was a lovely example, and sporting a matt black paint job back then. When you admire them in detail they are stunning pieces of engineering. I advise people to watch Koenigsegg Megafactories to see the amount of work and dedication that goes into these. A few pictures of the CCR...

I read an article online about the attack stating that a black Lamborghini was damaged, I remember it clearly because I had seen a Black Murci Roadster wearing GE plates around Swansea. I put 2+2 together and assumed that the damaged "black Lambo" was in fact the Murci roadster that was appearing in the area.

The attack was back in 2007 and the only thing I can find now is "Evans' home and car were set on fire at around 2.30am on 18 December, while Evans and his family were in the house. The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested the following day." - Granted*, it may have been another black Lamborghini

I love the whole one guy one vision that encapsulates the likes of Koenigsegg and Pagani but it’s always been about the details for me.

The early Egg's I do feel had a few quality control issues having poured over a few.

Today I do not think that is a problem and think they compare well with the Pagani's.

Why have they not had the same success as the Zonda's? That’s hard to say. But I think it comes down to a couple of things. The Zonda from the looks point of view is almost universally loved, the Koenigsegg, great looker as it is, not so much. Add the Zonda's engine and noise and you have the cherry on the cake.

Lets not forget that the Egg's have always outshone the Zonda's for a performance numbers point of view (BHP, 0-60 and top speed etc but not lap time) so it comes down to the intangibles, and those will always be in the eye and pocket of the beholder
