If I had £55k to spend on a right hand drive Ferrari, is trying to get a 550 pushing my luck?

Car would ideally not be in red, but not too fussed. It should, of course, have FFSH. Argento/Bordeaux or Argento/Black would be preferable. Blue, whether Chiaro or Scuro is 2nd preferred colour on the list.

Extras such as red calipers, daytona seats, shields, 250GT parcel shelf etc are nice to haves, but not bothered if absent.

If anyone hears of one for sale at that price on the grapevine, please let me know. I can be reached via e-mail,

Matt.Osborne@sun.com

Cheers
Matt

It's definitely possible.

Verdi's have one at 62500, but its already got an offer on, but this proves they're available around your budget.

www.verdiferrari.biz/sales.asp for the car i'm talking about. Black with red leather, 21,700miles.

456's are also available around that price if you're not overly bothered about 2 or 4 seats

You will not get a good example for 55k. Get a 355 instead.

Agreed, I've finally found my dream 550 after looking around for 9 months. I'd suggest you will find a mint, low mileage example with full FFSH for between £65k-£67k.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the info. I asked the question on behalf of my best mate. He's just sold his 355 and is looking to move up to a 550.

He's looked at one or two, and there are good examples, with provenance, available for sub-£60k if you search hard enough. Will post piccies once the search is over.

Thanks
Matt

Just make sure you don't get a less-than-perfect example for the sake of getting one. You might be able to get a LHD one for that amount in better condition?

Update!

Found and bought one last week. 1998 R Reg in Silver with black. Fantastic condition. 11k miles with all annual services and belts done by main dealer.

Only thing that needed doing was new tyres all round (still on originals)and a damn good waxing!

He's very happy with it even though he paid more than he'd originally planned to!

Cheeky Git! Lets just say it was more than £55k, but a similar amount less than £65k. A bargain, apparently!
