Great write up, cheers.
They look so much better in the 'real world' than they do in the endless press release photos that get put about.

One day on and 100 mile more, and two faults so far, first was an exhaust valve fault, which put the car into limp mode. Pulled over, switched it off, locked it and after 2 minutes it thankfully sorted itself back out again. Phew. Then 20 miles later an 'ESC Fault' appeared on the dash, and none of the handling or powertrain buttons worked and dash reset to default mode. Switched off in traffic, restarted and fault cleared. Again. Phew. Oh, and whilst listing to the iPod, the media center rebooted itself for no reason. TO be fair IRIS is not in a very healthy state on all cars, but at least the iPod part works. Or did. Hope it gets better from here on!!! Without quoting the questions above: - 599 GTO or McLaren if I had to keep one? GTO. Its just a better car, maybe only 90% as fast but just an all round great car. I could see myself getting board of the McLaren, not of the GTO. - Steels or carbon brakes? I have the steels and they feel fine feedback wise, and do slow it down very well, however I do now wish that I would have spec'ed the carbon ones, as I can see the standard pads/disks wearing out pretty quickly due to the shear speed of the thing and all the braking thats needed! - Comparison of size to the GTO. See pics below, but I was surprised this morning when I put them side by side to find them exactly the same length and width, and the GTO is large!! My car with its sister. Chassis number 121 and 122 (122 being my business partners)

Ooooh liking the blue. Very subtle.
Is your business partner experiencing the same issues as you?
Also, thanks for the GTO comparison pic, nice to see them side by side.

Matt: I'm sure that your thoughts on the Mclaren are fascinating but, to be honest, when you started posting photos of your collection and the two MP4-12Cs side by side, I have to say I stopped reading...! Only joking! I hope that Mclaren are taking note of forums like this because they should find your insights as an early adopter both helpful and humbling. I have to say, when speccing my fantasy car, I chose that blue shade - based on the blue car in the photos, I think I made the right choice. Like the 458, I personally think that the MP4-12C looks better in darker shades. Half-serious question: do you have garage space for all of your cars, or do some of them live elsewhere?

What a fine set of cars you have there.
Having only seen one Macca in the flesh they look a lot, lot better in the flesh than they do in pics. I take it the Rangey and Aston is yours as well?
Nice to see someone doing well and living the dream.
Good write-up as well.

Is that a DBS Volante I can see in the background? It looks lovely in that colour! Oh I love the other cars by the way but I have a soft spot for Aston's

Congratulations Matt, you've got a quite staggering collection of cars now! Real boyhood dreams stuff! Car looks amazing, (as do all the others). Sorry to hear there are so many teething issues with these cars, really didn't expect that with McLaren. PS - Think I saw your business partner's car this morning heading south from Holyport. The nearside daytime running light wasn't working!

275 and a MP4 in one week, very nice!! Despite having a MP4 on order its the 275 I would choose.
Shame that there are still faults with the McLaren but despite all these, the first real reviews thorough still seem positive in terms of the cars ability.
Enjoy!

I'm liking the blue too! I was just going to say that garage doesn't look big enough for all those cars, would of expected something like Andy's ^^^^ A fine stable!

Interesting reading, but I just can't abide the rear end - bit of a shame as that's the view most of us will see.

Nice motors. As you're in Oxfordshire, I think it'd be rude to not offer me a free ride in each car, I then get to keep my favourite.
