And not a glorified audi.

No, I love it, it's brilliant!

No, I love it, it's brilliant! That absolutely sums up the difference between the Gallardo and the R8. The latter will never come close to being a Lamborghini. BTW I dont get the "Offset peddles" view. Ever tried driving a Diablo?

im not having this r8 dissing, its a great car,it doesnt offer the thrill of the gallardo, nor the beauty ..but in many other respects it is better, the only reason I changed was I wanted a weekend car the gallardo does that, the r8 is more of a daily driver.

Hi Mark I may be selling my Gallardo (my dream car) which is similar to yours in the spring and have been seriously considering a cheaper R8 V8 to free up some cash for an investment I want to enter. I don't want to hi jack this thread but in your view will I be able to forgive myself for the down grade? Is the R8 an acceptable step down in performance, I already know the attention and thrill of ownership will diminish but by how much? Cheers Thomas

Just sold my V10 R8, fantastic car & alot better than my 2004 E-Gear Gallardo... However the Gallardo is more of an event & if your a poser or badge snob then only a Lambo will suffice... The 560-4 is a big improvement on the G & I would (& may) have one over an R8 any day!

Cheers Thomas hi hard to say,i had the 3rd on in the uk so the attention it got was staggering, honestly people loved it,would crowd round it ignoring ferraris and astons .I also put a miltek exhaust and a remap on so performance was very close to the gallardo with about 450 bhp . Lets put it like this..i would have another one (although I would probably have the v10)if i were going to utilise it every day, mind you thenew 991 carrera S might be a match for it now.

Lol I've already decided to fit an exhaust and H and R springs to the R8 as too be honest I'm a boy racer at heart so tinkering will soften the blow a little. I had thought I would not modify cars above a certain price but the Gallardo now has orange calipers, KN air filters and a Tubi! I may grow up one day as these cars are my daily drivers circa 800 miles a month, we'll see. Thanks for the insight and if I can bare to part with her in the spring I may come back to you for some advice on the re-map of the R8, cheers Thomas

I think you are being over sensitive just a tad. You have confirmed the points made by most contributors in your statement.

I have no problem believing the R8 is an amazing car both in V8 and V10 forms. Sadly I've yet to drive one. But they look amazing in the flesh and to me infinitely preferable to a 911.

wouldn't a badge snob prefer an audi anyway?
Lambo's are a bit lairy, and more associated with footballers, rock stars and arabs
audi is a more suave, sophisticated choice I'd have thought.
A ferrari owner can certainly drive around with an air of superiority and guff on about his race heritage and pedigree, a badge snob need look no further than the prancing horse.
A lambo owner's just taking the pi$$, which is what makes them more endearing to me anyway.
