Hi guys, I have read a little bit about capristo level 1 and level 3 exhausts over time, however can someone tell me if they have tried the level 1 with the decat pipes ? I tried a car today with level 1 and to be honest I was not over impressed, sounds nice at 6000 revs + but pretty dare I say it boring at all other times. I certainly didnt experiance this capristo scream .... Comments please ...

I've got a lvl 2. Its plenty loud enough. They're all the same noise once the valve opens, the only difference being the noise at idle.

I have heard a level one decatted Capristo (i only have a tubi untill i can buy a capristo). And they all sound like this level one de catted car under load. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqRNLJL9uEc&lis...

As cactussed said, they're all the same with the valve open, but I switched to a level 2 as I felt that I wanted a bit more volume before the valve opens level 2 is perfect for me. It occasionally sounds a little quiet, but only when I'm on a run with ridiculously loud cars on meetups where anything this side of an F1 car comes across as a tax quiet

Question from a lurker! Sorry if it has been asked before. What do you do about the MOT if you have a decanted car? Do you have to have them refitted just for the event? Is there a vintage of 355 which doesn't need cats?
Fabulous noise though, the only F car that would tempt me from my NSX would be a capristo'd 355, motoring nirvana IMHO!

Decat level 1 sounds like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4spHpz9X2CA&fea...

Sorry guys out for most of the day. Managed to have a little play late this afternoon and wired open the bypass valve, not very nice at tickover and normal driving but at 3500 jesus it's just like an F1 car | Not sure what to do now .... Can a level 1 be converted to level 2 ? How about having valve part open at tickover ?

JasonSF said: AIUI when the valve opens you're allowing flow to bypass the cats anyway, so i shouldn't think there's too much difference. Main difference would be with valve closed which is what I found

Mario149 said: Hey isnt that in the same place as that red 355? You can tell yours has the cats still in place. They dont sound the same at all, yours has a lower tone. And yours is a level 2 you say? Strange. Two great sounds though never the less.

Go the capristo, and go the decat! In a tunnel it sounds like an F1 car, at full revs you'll hit 131db! At a sound off/rev off event at the Ace cafe the only thing louder was a certain (very) noisy tvr. Mind you I hear a tubi'd enzo is just nuts..

General consensus on Ferrari chat and the like is that stage 1 decat is the dogs, and it is the decat that frees the exhaust up and gives it that pure F1 sound.

I have occasionally read that ferrari chat forum, not a very nice place i think. This is my first ferrari forum, this seems a nice friendly place. But that aside. Yes i do need a level one capristo in my life i think. At the moment i have a tubi style with no cats. We all make mistakes

If you're talking about the old Circuit de Gueux near Reims then yes. ok1 said: You can tell yours has the cats still in place. They dont sound the same at all, yours has a lower tone. I can set off car alarms when I start my level 2 in my car park without touching the throttle Actually, a couple of times it wasn't even in a car park

Mario, are you saying that having no cats would not enhance the sound even more? To my ears the two cars have two sounds, i thought because you still had cats fitted.

Just a little update chaps, fairly sure there is a problem with my bypass valve (put in a new one last night)hence my dissapointment initially. Will update this thread once I know 100% for those using the search in the future. Thanks for your input.
