Streetrod said: A good litnus test would be to watch which car the valet parking attendant rushes for as you pull up Yeah, and whats all that nonsense about ? we were talking about this the weekend, no way is some glorified bouncer parking my car for me thanks .... And then I kind of thought if his 599 equated to my old 98 Sharon Tdi in monetary terms would I care ? and even then I am perfectly capable of parking it myself 20 foot away as the case was this time thanks. Do women think, he must be special as you arrive, or he must be a lazy barsteward if he cant walk that far :-)

How about one of these to get noticed. It's not in the same league as a Zonda but about as rare. Perfect for Monaco winters????

TISPKJ said: Well, thats it, I have said it, never thought the words would come out of my mouth but for an all to brief period it was true.
Just spent the easter 4 days in Monaco, at first everytime I heard a car outside driving the circuit I was rushing to the window to look at what it was, by the afternoon unless it made loads of noise I started to slowly walk to the window, by the next day the journey from the setee to the balcony started to become a bit tedious ?
I dont think I have ever seen so many 458 599 California's scuds and common old 430's 550's and 360's in one place, shed loads of those noisy masserati things, gallardos, and of course the footballers bentleys. Seriously it became a case of oh look another one to the extent that I didnt bother in the end, only a few cars in the end were deemed worthy of a second glance, veyron, F40, 16M, Aston Zagato, phantom, few 599 GTO's, murci etc etc
It was almost like being that fat kid in the choclate factory film :-)
I can kind of see now why you would have to have a Zonda or Egg, your just not noticed in a 430.
And for me the winner (as over here)has to be the MP4-12C, two in the Mclaren showroom but didnt see any on the road at least for now ...
Should be a nice place to spend some time, and suprisingly didnt seem any more expensive than France and damn cheap compared to swissy ..
Cant wait to get back and get bored again :-)
This is why the £30k car I drive around Monaco turns more heads than anything else I've seen there. As I was driving up the hill from St. Devote to Casino someone on the pavement stopped to take a photo of my son and me. Unfortunately he let go of the baby buggy he was holding to do so and it started to roll down the hill. What car produced this reaction? An Aerial Atom. It's faster than most of the exotica too. The man with the camera checked himself and caught the buggy. Simon

Just to top it off you should pull up outside the casino in Monaco wearing your oil stained white overalls, flying helmet and goggles. These you should then strip off as you step out of the car to reveal your perfect Tuxedo. You then walk in and drop a million on black... which you lose. You shrug, order a stiff one and catch the eye of the duchess in the corner. You whip her up to your suite which is always reserved for you where you give her a good seeing too whilst never revealing your name. The next morning you are gone before dawn with only the sound of your engine fading in the distance, an instruction is left with your valet to make sure the sheets are replaced for when you return

Its an amazing place Monaco, where a day to day Ferrari barely gets a second glance. Went en route to the alps in a White 997 GT3.1 a couple of years ago and thought it'd be fun to drive round the track as you do. When I made Casino square I found myself in the middle of a convoy of Ferraris, 430 Spiders, 360s and some 355s. All the spiders were being driven by middle aged , bronzed , gold encrusted latins , and the coupes too as far as I could see. Felt embarrassed by association as they crawled round in first gear with short squirts of acceleration making as much of a show as possible. Exited stage left as soon as I could and disappeared up into the passes in the hills asap.
It was a parody of the whole town really. All about the display rather than an appreciation of the machine

For sure I dont think any of the fabulous cars were owned by true enthusiasts.
Like you say many seemed to be driven by middle aged bald fat men with the compulsory fit blonde in the passenger seat ....... kind of gives us all a bit of hope no ? :-)

You win, great in the race with a lucky streak. You lose, another year left to live.

Great fun, they drive like a go-kart, and sound great. The machining of the interior (dash, gearshift, switches, steering wheel) is quite something. This did a very good job at attracting a crowd when we were there 2 years ago... never did find out what the colour was (apologies for quality as taken on the phone after sitting outside the cafe all afternoon drinking) and I did like this (though it was filthy and looked as though it hadn't moved for a long time) and any excuse to remind me of the trip
