ok1 said: Is this the 250 SWB California model? As in the type that Chris Evans bought for 5-6 million £s? SWB with open headlights. But I can't find this one in the Barchetta registry, it could well be a replica. Most of the time you see a convincing one these days, it is still not real. There were only 12 cars built with open headlights as far as I can make out. Onno

Its called the Gatto and it’s a one off built by Moal Coachworks out of San Francisco. The customer wanted a car built in the style of the coachbuilders of the 60's who would take and chassis and engine from the likes of Ferrari or Maserati and then build a custom body. What Moal did in this case at their customers request was take a Ferrari GTO spec engine, attach it to a modern six speed and drop it into a custom chassis with very up to date suspension. They then got Jimmy the mad Irish man to fabricate the whole body in hand beaten ali. They stole various design clues from great cars of the past like the Zagato double bubble roof and rear fenders and the Maserati style grill. The car also comes with creature comforts like air con. After three years work and a whole load of cash this is what you end up with. Your can read more about it and see more pics here: http://www.moal.com/04_gallery/11gatto/index.php

I thought Maserati at first but then couldn't place the rest of the car, except on a Ferrari, then didn't recognise the badge.
Just absolutely sublime and what a true love for the automobile is all about. I wish I could afford one just like that. I don't think I would change a thing.

If you find yourself in Brasil and someone calls you "gatto/gatinho".. don't take offence, quite the opposite in fact, you may well be on your way to scoring. Gatto = Cat. If you've got rats around your way that look like the big cat on the front badge.. bloody hell, run!

Have owned a fair few cars over the years, inc. Ferrari's, and this, by a long way generates more interest than anything else. Driving one is interesting too

That Spyker has to be one of the ugliest cars on the planet.....It'll get you noticed for sure but not for the right reasons.
As has been mentioned, King of Cool has be be a quality classic....No question. Modern red stuff etc is just vulgar

Your can read more about it and see more pics here: http://www.moal.com/04_gallery/11gatto/index.phpLooks just like a Maserati A6GCS coupe, not a bad shape to copy! I agree whole heartedly that if you want to be noticed (for the right reasons of having good taste in good cars that is) classics are the best bet. And for heightened wow factor surely its a got to be a proper racer, then when people ask about it you can boast about its great results at spa in the 50s... Id rather have enthusiastic 50 year olds ask me about my Maserati 200si engine history than trying to pull 20 year olds in a red 458. (Ok that dosnt sound normal for a young man I know...) Surely the attention you want is from other petrolheads/car enthusiasts, a knowing nod from a connoisseur is worth a hundred stares from normal humans. Id go for this http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/968/Alfa-Romeo-...1/18 made, costs more than the sun, basically prototype with a tax disc.

My mate came back from Monaco the other day and he had seen dozens of Ferraris including 4 Enzos, a handful of Veyrons, a few Koenigseggs, many Lambos and lots of other supercars but he never saw one of these! The other day I saw two in Aberdeen.

JazzyO said: I think TVR's can be special. Lots of them are not, though, and my Griffith restoration project certainly has thrown Peter Wheeler's comment "I don't accept we are producing cars of lesser quality than Porsche at all!" in a very cynical light...
They created cars that (often) are great to drive, offer plenty of performance and lots of flair and pizzazz, without any regard for political correctness and for that I tip my hat. I am a proud owner. But to say the average TVR can be special amongst supercars is folly.
I think, if you do want to be noticed for the right reasons in Monaco, you should drive an Eagle Speedster.
Onno They look nice, but drive like dogs. Glorified kit car.

I think it was on Ch 4 or similar, yes not bad for TV anyway assuming it's the same video.
The story if I remember correctly was him buying the car and getting sorted with the intention of competing in and finishing the MM in order to sell the car now with provenance at a profit enough to cover the costs of the trip.
Didnt exactly work out that way ....
