Sorry!! I really think that f1 gtr's should be in original colours. No need to upgrade anything else but putting back original items such as air jacks
Don't worry about it! smile I completely understand (I'd adore a machine like this complete with air jacks) - and to preserve history like that is just brilliant.

Is it at Lazante? I'm about 200m from them as the crow flies...

I thing I'm gonna die......that's wonderful! cloud9

May I ask, how it works the re-laquering of the tub? Doesn't it crumble when exposed/sanded? And is it x-rayed in order to find eventual cracs?

Thanks in advance and sorry for being nosey!

Can I ask what inspired the rebuild - was it a service that got out of hand (!) or was there a specific reason - if its in another thread please direct me - tia
Car was never the same after Chris Harris soiled the passenger seat!

Andy, a quick couple of questions. I have never seen your car in person so wanted to know if the original livery was all painted on or if stickers were used at all, and if they were will you be reinstating these or was everything painted?

Also will the rebuild be able to eliminate the squeal from the brakes?

Isn't the squealing brake a common charateristic of racing cars due to harder pads? If so, I think unless he opts for softer pads, it won't go away...

Wonderful to see an F1 GTR naked like that - amazing. I think, as a championship winning car, keeping its provenance is important so I'm delighted the original livery is remaining. I would also be at pains to keep squealing brakes, all part of the character of a race car for the road. Can't wait to see more.

Who's doing the work Andy (if you want to say)? Do I spy another F1 in that workshop?
I would take a guess that it begins with an L
I was thinking that too - it doesn't look clinical enough to be McLaren!
If it is at L, it doesn't matter, they are very good at what they do.
It definitely is "L's" workshop I recognise the floor! With their pedigree with the F1 there is aguably no where better to go

I hear what you are saying but does the squeal just get plain annoying after a while and attract attention too the car for the wrong reasons? It's not like you are going to slip by unnoticed in this thing are you, its pink for goodness sake!! thumbup

You make a valid point! Although my shed is some way from being an F1 GTR, I find the brake squeal around town, the heat when you're pressing on and the inability to hold a conversation without shouting is just part of the appeal. Mine's a bit of a half-arsed effort compared to Andy's though!

Is the engine running without the restrictors from it's racing days?

I'd imagine so. Would be interesting to see a dyno result.

Andy, were they responsible for converting the car to road legal spec? Bookmarked.

No - McLaren did that work for a previous owner.

Invoices added up to right around £200,000. eek
