With £300k to spend on a car and the relevant financial status to back-up its maintenance, it would be an F40 for me - I wouldn't even have to think about it. That said, is it still possible to get an F40 for under £300k? None of the ones in the classifieds have a price on.
425,000 GBP for sub 15,000 km mint, non cat, non adj examples.

Carrera GT would be my choice. There is no additional VAT to be paid if the car is coming from within the EU. Furthermore, with sterling having appreciated vis-a-vis the Euro there is obviously a saving importing a car from the Continent right now.

Alternatively there is always a DB4 or DB5 but they are getting difficult to find for 300k or a Porsche 2.7 RS.

Definitely one of these:

Can't see them taking much of a hit depreciation wise.

Decent F40s start at around £350k. If the OP can afford £300k then £350k would presumably be possible. High mileage or F40 with history woud be within original budget.

Is there a thread on what it is like to live with the CGT? Spoke to a P dealer and he put me off a bit, eg saying you could lunch a clutch in one day if clumsy. Seem quite good value in Switzerland with low mileage cars available from around £220k.
Cgt is easy to live with . Provided you have a modicum of car control and respectbitvsufficiently . I have done 30 000 miles in 2 cgt's now and have never looked back . It's an absolute belter of a car , if you are clumsy with any car you will ruin a clutch . It is the most exhilarating car I have ever owned
, no matter how much I drive it , it will always be better than me . It's a life long relationship . All these " supercars for dummies " that are coming out in the next few years only make me love it more .
My current Cgt has done 18000 miles 6 trackdays several launches at v max etc etc . Just had a service and the clutch wear is the same as before . Awesome machines .

You would have to be retarded to lunch a clutch on a CGT... You don't need to apply any revs, even on a hill start - the ECU does it for you
The more ecu involvement the bigger the burn?
No all the ecu does is anti stall . The car rolls on the clutch then you should apply power . Driven like this clutches are bombproof .
The build quality is also on another planet , I chose mine over an enzo and doubt the enzo would have put up with the life this poor car has had to endure . It makes koenisgesggegegggeseeg etc look like kit cars .

How about a Miura, possibly pick up a P400 for 300k, never driven one but they look lovely and have a chance of holding their value.

That's also already getting difficult. And you don't want a crummy one. Looked at an SV last year but they're approaching 700k now.... They have more than a chance of holding their value, at the moment rising quite quickly.

That makes them F50 money, I always assumed they were cheaper?

F40s vary. Cats and adj suspension plus another 30K kms will pull the price down by at least 100K GBP.

After following two 599 GTO's through France last week, and going for 6.00am blast along the coast into Monaco this morning in one of them, my shortlist would be;
1. 599 GTO
2. 599 GTO
3 599 GTO
4. 599 GTO
5. 599 GTO

What a fkin' car! I want one quite badly.

Not quite what the OP is after but with £300k I would buy:

£130,000 Aston Martin V12 Vantage
£80,000 BMW F10 M5
£50,000 Ferrari 355 Spyder
£40,000 Jaguar E Type

That seems very expensive. I saw one, mint car, non cat, non suspension with low mileage at top specialist jut a few months back and is was much less than that.

Can't work out links with this iPad but go to www.autoscout24.ch and select for Porsche and CGT and hopefully you will get the list.

Unfortunately you would get hit with 20% VAT unless migrating back to the UK and you already owned the CGT.
And import duty if coming from swissy

Surprised no one has suggested the Porsche 959 ? Every chance it could make money never mind depreciate.

There's one for sale here http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C299848 I think they go for about £200k.

Might not be quite the impact car that the CGT to the average punter but to anyone that knows their cars it's very, very special.

Good. Sounds like a tidy opportunity. Where and how much please?

BMW 330i Msport Touring?

You seem like a genuine guy - I'll do you a deal to keep it under 300k. Let me know when you're ready to take this to the next level.

I presume you already have a good support garage? Otherwise I'd be pulling together a nice little collection for that money.

599 for Europe
997 GT3 for the twisties
RRS for the missus
C63 Estate (AMG Performance Pack) for the dog
R8 V10 Spyder for a cheap suntan.

1 car, I'd be looking at an FF - and hoping and praying the dog can fit in that boot!

Only 1 in the UK, apparently the owner wanted 100k for it last year. One of my dream cars though, would love an NSX one day.
