You can go to the factory for the atelier where they can show you any spec on screen like a massive configurator. Of course there are plenty of cars around but you'd be amazed how few variations you can see in the flesh, red, yellow, black and white is the vast majority done. Plus beware, once they've got you there it's sooooo easy to get carried away with spec!! The dealers have a massive configurator, I'd start there.

Not a fan of the racing seats, prefer heated and electric. Although heated seats with memory is over £4k as an option.
May look to cut back on some of the carbon, i'm thinking the silver trim will match the red leather better, got a few weeks and a factory visit before I have to confirm.
Thanks

Please be aware that a factory visit and an Atelier experience are two different things. A factory visit will help but you will only be on the production line for about 10mins and there won't be any samples to compare. Very different to spending a whole morning with Vittorio and walking the factory grounds looking for cars in the right colour, having the full range of samples for leather and paint available or visiting the production line 3 times (or more if you want) to see what specific options to choose. I persoanally had a factory tour on a Friday and then the Atelier on the Tuesday after.
After 2500 miles in the racing seats, I can tell you they are very comfortable. I think they look mych better. If you do as well, then I would suggest you think it over. How often will you use that memory button or switch the heat on? They are very expensive, though.

Onno The race seats are not a huge amount more than the full electric option and will probably help resale considerably. I personally wouldn't bother with the hi-fi upgrade. I didn't have it on my first 458 but ordered it on my second. It requires high quality sound files or CD's to get the best out of it and with the engine and tyre noise in this type of cabin it has a battle on it's hands if you are on anything other than smooth tarmac and cruising at low revs. I haven't bothered with it on my spider.

I'm thinking with the red that maybe the silver trim will be nicer than the carbon, that saves about £6k, def getting rid of the carbon engine, no body seems to spec it and I think it will get lost, thats another £4.5k!
Some of it is bit silly, £1,200 to have the dash in another colour for example, after all there is no more leather, its just a different colour.
I guess that the price of speccing your ideal car, I may only get to do it once so what the 'ell.

Onno You've racked up those miles already in your 458? Well done, glad to hear you're using and presumably enjoying your car so much!

I always struggle with options, I have the notion ringing in my head that come trade in time options are worth nothing.
Having said that there are some that seem must haves, like Nav, Scuderia shields, the racing wheels, parking.
Racing seats look fab IMHO and were in the cars I drove at Fiorano but they are a bit eye watering, might be my one indulgance!!
