Latest Ferrari GTO sale is now up to 35 million it seems, I simply don't understand it myself. Is it a case of the wealthy trying to out-do each other as the latest 'big thing'? Do people believe these cars will just keep getting more expensive? or are we to see a Facebook style slump in due course where the bubble bursts as people realise its all been hyped? Have to say that is a ridiculous amount of money for a car, assuming that the sale price is correct.
IMO.

FFS... I was there when one was bought for $7m. Silly money for a car, no matter what it is. All it does it make those that are able to buy it want it more. And those that are working towards having it get every so slightly annoyed...

I thought Chris's 860 Monza was the one he lusted over and now owns. One of only 3 cars, now only 2 remaining and raced by Fangio.....
... and yet cheaper to by than a GTO where there were more built, just goes to show the silliness of GTO prices.

I guess it all Depends if you view a GTO as a car or art compared to scream at $119000000 which is in my eyes mental it's reasonable

The expression in the painting says it all. At least with a car you can drive it- and race it. With a car like a GTO, modern rcing history, and an FIA passport will oncrease its value. Can you imagine owning somehting which you use and abuse it and it only goes up in value. The ultimate?? People need something to invest large amounts of money on. Some got their fingrers burnt on houses (again), so are looking into art and cars, I would expect the boat, classic aircraft, watches etc market is txperiencing the same. Heavens, even an old Ford EScort was abvertised for, what, 16k??

It's a bit like footballers - prices will keep going up because it defines 'better'

I must be the only person the GTO does nothing for. 10x more than an LM, madness. As a set, The Scream has nothing on Cezanne's Card Players. One of the 5 recently sold for $250 million, putting a theoretical value on the set of $1.25 billion! But moving on from the paintings, what we're seeing with classic cars is spectacular. Nick Mason must be rubbing his hands with glee as his model will probably be worth as much as the Moss car. Talacrest has a 330P at the moment and he wants in the region of $25 million for it. Incredible!

Heavens, even an old Ford EScort was abvertised for, what, 16k?? Rubbish. I heard from a close source that the 250 will, within the next 5 years, settle at around 3-5m give or take. Something about the bodywork and chassis not lasting much longer due to the way the... Ok, feeble attempt at market manipulation. These things are just going to go up and up

Justices said: These things are just going to go up and up In all fairness, there are distinct parallels, that can be drawn with the 80's boom. Whilst I don't think the readjustment is going to quite as bad as the early 90's, prices will diminish somewhat over the next 5 years
