I had my first drive in a Scud on the roads yesterday, Im not a big 430 fan but was completely blown away by the Scud. Ive never had so many people stare at me when I pulled into a petrol station! Simply amazing car, I really couldn't fault it. And as we are all throwing pics in, it was this one: Scud Missile by Adam Kennedy Photography, on Flickr

giggle said: The button only works in race and then gives you the sport damping. If you press it in sport nothing happens as you are already on the softer sport damping. The low grip on the Manettino gives you the softest setting.
As soon as I clear the towns boundary im straight into race with the button pressed for sport damping. You are quite correct, I thought I was talking s**te as I wrote it, amazing how quick the memory fades...... Excellent car though.

How does the Scud compare as road racer to the CS?
Heard a few people on here praising it for its rawness, prefering it to the Scud.
As Im guessing anyone buying the Scud is looking for a focussed car!

The gear change and steering are great, as is the top end, but is it £40k better than the standard car? Yes. If you can use it as intended, otherwise it's a bit of a waste.

£40k and lots lots more . Yeah those common red ones with the pastic still on the seats and not many miles on the clock are wrongly (for some) more expensive.

bertie said: Start at the very beginning, that's a very good place to start.....as someone once said!
I'm curious as I'm in a 599 at the moment but I've got a 458 Spider on order so I'm wondering if a 550 / 575 or a 360CS / Scud / Superleggera might sit nicely next to it. The build quality is rubbish, suspension parts needed replacing, carbon parts needed replacing, headlights needed replacing and to finally top it, needed a new bonnet and front end repaint cause it was rusty ! This shouldn't happen on a £192k car with 6k miles. On track it's too soft and the brakes are crap, on the road it's tiring to cover any distance. They only feel quick when above 6000rpm. When driving the car hard you can't swivel your foot from accelerator to brake....very scary when you hit the brake pedal hard and part of your foot is still on the accelerator ! On a personal note I didn't like the switchable zorst and the interior felt cheap, I not keen on carbon. 599 streets ahead, so much laugh out load power you could forgive it anything and the interior feels expensive.

That car was taken as a part ex at HR Owen and then passed through trade. I wonder why HR Owen wouldn't sell it ?

The 430 Scud is a great car. Me and my friend had a great 7-day-trip through the Alps/Dolomites last month and we pushed both our cars quite a bit. His 430 was/is a beast and because of his semi-slick tyres the grip in 180 degree turns was better than with my Italia on normal road tyres (Michelin). Get a Scud, it's a good deal ! Best, Ulli

Just hoping to see it around to be honest I've seen that (or another same spec) car around Alderley Edge a few times when someone I know had it, and it looks awesome. I'm sure you'll make the right decision eventually...
