Davey S2 said: I'd look at a 575 Superamerica if you can find one at that price. Far more ueseable and the Barchetta looks a complete mess with the roof on. Only a few months ago I had to choose between buying a Barchetta or a Superamerica. Opted for the barchetta for several reasons - from the side the Superamerica looks like 328 gts - barchetta is classier, more collectible, and should hold its value better - roof struts problems on the Superamerica and consequent motor assembly failures (easly repaired with few thousand pounds) - roof delamination problems on the Superamerica (several tens of thousands of pounds to replace the roof) - Michalak Design roof on the Barchetta much nicer than the standard roof, quick and easy to erect, and good for high speed driving - manual transmission on the Barchetta

My neighbour has one on a 12 month lease with purchase option. He loves it, and is seriously considering uptaking the option, and he's had many good cars. I think you'd get into one brand new for £140k. And it's also one of the few hi-end autos which'll do as a dd without tantrum or constant maintenance attention. I know what you mean, tho. R8/10 is another like that, isn't it?

Doesn't seem to have it on the website its a two minute job 15 seconds per side to fit the L shaped struts, then you just have to drape the roof over the car, turn two handles (and one central clip) to lock it at the front, hook it up a the rear, and close the boot to tension it as far as price is concerned Michalak listed it back in 2006 as €8250+vat, whicle Dimex is around €11.000+vat I'm not quite sure what's the difference between the two, but I believe the roof was originally made by Michalak, which has however ceased production, which is now beeing carried out by Dimex

I would see if I could find an extra £30k and go with a McLaren MPC-12C. 888 miles wow!
It's as deflation proof as it gets! The very existence of these cars already at such prices is evidence that they're going down down down. Can't see how you think that it's depreciation proof?

It would have to be a ford GT for me, just stunning to look at, rare and they're pretty depreciation proof!

Got to say Alfa Romeo 8C as it seems to be climbing in price slowly.
Also, according to another PHer, if you ask nicely at Dallara (Italian race comapany who make chassis' for most things but famously F3 cars, they worked on the 8c until alfa told them not to bother anymore) they will make the dynamics how they had intended, eg sublime.
MC Stradale, or the new Sport (the depreciation on a new car might be a problem) are other thoughts.
CS sounds good, how are GT3 RS' at retaining value?

Fantuzzi said: how are GT3 RS' at retaining value? The general consensus here, well on the Porsche forum anyways, is that they are depreciation proof and starting to rise. However when you look at the 996 GT3 classifieds, the cars just dont seem to be selling and several are being reduced. Theres a White and Blue RS in there at the moment that has been dropped twice from 55k to 53k and now its at 49k all in the last 2 weeks or so. There are also a few others that are around the 65k mark that have been on for a while. I think they definitely do have future appreciation potential but IMHO they are clearly not at the bottom yet.
