As per the title we are looking at 2008 -2010 cars, concentrating on 4.2V8 as we want auto over MC shift as its daily drive for my wife as well as weekend / holiday car for us both and couple of young kids. I have a Fezza F1 shift and don't think it's ideal for a daily drive re supermarket parking etc. Fuel consumption not a big issue as we run a Merc CLK 5ltr V8 and only get 18 -25 on a run out of that. We're getting told complete opposites re reliability and running costs from; they are much improved no real problems to they are money pit and will fall apart. Looking at dealer sales. So expect 12 month warranty, does anybody know how long Maserati will warrant for and how much and is it recommended? Looking at car as long term keeper 5 years +. We really want a car with sense of occasion that we can all use. Don't do huge miles max 5K a year. All experiences welcome good and bad. Mark

Perfect cars, much improved on older Masers. Plently of room for kids. Boot is a bit tight though.
I own the 4.7 full auto - they start at around £55k retail for a 2009. The 4.2 starts at around £35k retail for a 2007.

Harry Metcalfe (evo magizine) had one, his running/fleet reports are on his website, http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evolongtermtests/2...

If you want a sense of occasion then you are looking at the right car....4.2 has been over shadowed by its 4.7 brother but with cars starting at 36k they are a lot of car for the money.......If you want a full auto then you can get a 4.7 as the S comes in MC and Auto now......

I run an MC shift as a DD, had it for 3 years without any real issues. I have however just renewed the warranty for another 2 years, for peace of mind. these are fabulous cars and would fit your purpose perfectly, BUT I would go for the 4.7 S Auto, which came out in 2009, rather than the 4.2 which whilst nice lacks the firepower of the 4.7 which is really the engine the car should have had from the start.
In terms of build quality, forget what you have heard about flakey reliability, these are properly built cars that can rival anything made in Germany for build and reliability. Dealer warranty is clearly something I would want to have, I have had a couple of small niggles, such as needing a new battery, window squeeling, and some trip peeling off the glovebox lid, but nothing major and all fixed without question. Good luck with the search.

I have owned 3 Maserati GranTurismo's over the last 2 years, flawless ownership and each one has been better than the last & I now have a MC Stradale.
You can extend the standard 3 year warranty by a further 2 years via the Maserati Dealerships. Servicing is 2 years or 12.5k miles, whichever comes sooner.
I would also advise go for the 4.7 if you can, if not the 4.2 is still remarkable and represents amazing value!
As you may have gathered, I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending these modern Maserati's to anyone.
Good luck in your search!

Guys thanks for all the responses. We've just placed order with JCT600 for a brand new S in Grigio Carbonio and Black interior. All the usual options. Got a great deal as car ready to roll as they are clearing decks for 2013 year cars not an issue for me. Plan to drive up and collect late September . Very excited

Very excited Sounds awsome, saw a Grey metallic (not sure the real name, but Im guessing its close to your choice), looked amazing, really flatters the cars curves. Adore Maserati, there isnt a better looking car on sale today, nor is there a better GT car!
