Bloody hell, and I've just found this thread: http://www.pistonheads.com/xforums/topic.asp?h=0&a...

And done search....

http://www.autoscout24.eu/ListGN.aspx?vis=1&st...

At the prices some of these are at, I wouldn't even have to sell the 355....

Buy car cheap from continent, then spend another couple of €k for CoC, dash mph stickers and blokey who sorts the deal for you etc. Fly out on easy jet to sunny wherever, 3k mile road trip home. Job jobbed.

<bump>

Okay, so for various reasons, well one actually, I've decided to chop the budget to to an absolute max of £100k which would include whatever I got for my 355. As sad as it sounds I just don't think I can get on board with the frivolity of having say £125k (prev budget + 355 sale) tied up in "toys"...especially when my new Street Triple R is being delivered on Monday and I can't seem to sell my current bike (BMW F800S...pm me if interested!). Besides, after bit of checking £20k buys me a parking space in a fancy car park in London near where I live wink

Anyway, while a CS is still an option, my latest idea (which I discussed in detail with Carspath at the Ferrari Silverstone thing today smile ) is a bit off the wall. While CSs are epic, it would still fundamentally be just one car. And I really, and I mean *really* desire a cobra recreation havign seen a few recently. I've been doing some research and significantly less than £50k gets me a personalised custom built one (lead time 8 weeks) with pretty much all the goodies such as a Dax 427 with 450bhp 6.3 litre stroker Chevy carburettored V8, LSD, soft top etc etc etc Depreciation isn't bad either - an initial hit then they hold completely steady it seems, totally different from regular cars). Now the beauty of this is, I still have £50k or so left over for a daily sh*tter smile I can think of nothing better than a 550 biggrin I think in my heart I don't want to leave the Ferrari fraternity, but I think I do want to change my 355. She's great and I'm sure I'll miss her but I do feel I should move on and enjoy other cars (christ, I sound like I'm talking about an ex gf hehe ). Plus, I think that if you're going to chop in one of the all time great Ferraris, you should probably replace it one of similar standing smile

Cobra is a icon car, keep the 355 for the Ferrari fun, then a modern coupe R8, 911 or GTR as a daily.
Would be in budget but space might be an issue.

To clarify, are suggesting a stable of: Cobra, 355 and a Porsche (or similar) £25k-ish?

Sorry slight miss read, I was thinking £50k each on new cobra and modern coupe and keep the 355.

Saying that you could get a s/h cobra for £35k, 355 is £25, and £40 on a 911 or GTR for real back seats, a decent R8 is going to be £50 so a bit over.

CS all the way. Wouldnt spend 90k+ on one though ! The main uk players seem to have created their own distorted market because outside of those dealers, on the continent and privately, they are selling for a lot lot less. A ferrari warranty isn't worth £20,000-£30,000 imo.

mario, it was great meeting you and your girlfriend (and best of luck to her for her forthcoming driving-test) again , at the silverstone-ferrari do yesterday

i had a wonderful time there, including getting onto the pit-wall (for all of about 15 minutes, before being politely moved on), and my wife also managed to get me into the clienti garage with the 599xx and fxx cars.
the noise (music)on start-up was pure bliss

i'm currently partially living my car-buying fantasies through you and this thread

the cobra idea is akin to my brooke, in that it is a raw ,open, light-weight car with a high power (and torque) to weight ratio, which you can largely specify to your tastes

having said this, i would love to see you in a murcielago

maybe , others more knowledgeable, could comment on:
-depreciation
-reliability
-servicing costs
about 18 months ago, there were only about 5 murcies being advertised
over the last 6 months , there consistently appears to be about 20 on sale at any given moment
some of this must be due to owners up grading to the aventador
the same cars seem to be sticking to the forecourt, so ? could moving the murcie on could be a problem ,once you have had your fun with it ?

i think that finding a decent murcie could be a challenge, as some seem to have led a hard life

? could the murcielago find itself onto your short-list?

Has anyone actually done this?. I'd be interested what is actually available and what it cost with taxes etc. In my experience something that seems to be true usually is.

Totally agree. Dealers have both over inflated and stagnated the market for years. Obviously the CS is an epic car, and worth more than a normal 360, but they built a fair few, and they certainly shouldn't be compared to the f-40 in terms of rarity or value....
