I was seriously looking at it until the prices were issued.

The prices are crazy. If you look at the options available and start taking one price from another you will see how crazy the price is.

If you joined in Rome they are charging 1600 euros for one night in Rome and a drive on public roads to Bologna!

If you look on Booking.Com you can book a 4* hotel in the centre of Rome for between 160 and 300 euros on the date in question. A really top notch restaurant is going to be no more than 200 euros so what is the other 1100 euros for?

They claim each town they visit is sponsoring the event so one would assume the secure parking in the squares and transfer to the hotels is what the local tourist boards are providing. If not what are they providing?

If you just want to attend the dinner it is 2200 euros for 2 nights in Bologna and a meal at the factory. Again probably worth 1000 euros at the absolute max.

I thought the idea of the event was to bring owners from all over to meet up and celebrate the 50 years. It would seem that as per usual the basic idea is brilliant but opportunity to make money out of owners could not be missed.

Whether it is Lamborghini or the event organisers (as I noticed the email I sent was replied to by an events company)someone is making serious money out of this event at the expense of owners.

It is not only Lamborghini who think like that but Ferrari also. The VIP hospitality (breakfast and lunch in a marquee) at £600 per day for 2 really took the biscuit at the recent Ferrari race day at Silverstone.

I have had invites from Audi to the British GP and Lemans series at Silverstone in the past and everything was free as it should be.

I fully understand that Lamborghini (being a smaller division of VW) need to cover their costs but making a massive profit is not acceptable to me on this type of event. We at the end of the day are providing our cars free of charge to generate publicity for the company! Very clever from their side to get customers to pay them a large sum of money and provide their cars FOC to generate publicity and hopefully increase sales and even make a profit in the process!

Yep. +2 here....
Plus you need to factor in the costs of getting there, accom, ferry, fuel etc.
All adds up to quite an expensive holiday.

you've just got to love the translated factory invite referring to the biggest ever convoy of lamborghinis as a "caravan" biggrin

I wonder how many people in Europe will just go along and drive those routes anyway without paying. It would still be fun to do, the city centres would be packed with Lambo's and it would cost a fraction of the price.

Fuel alone for the trip would be a huge cost if driving there, then around Itally, then home...
Circa 1500 miles there.
1500 miles around Italy.
Circa 1500 miles home.

4,500 mile trip...at 15mpg....
Petrol...£1.36/ltr
100 ltr / 22gal feul tank
330 miles ish to a tank
Thats 13.6 tanks of fuel...so lets say 15!!!

Therefore thats about £2000 for fuel alone!!!

A rather expensive trip!!!....or have I missed something?

why don't we do a 'uk prologue' .... from X to Y, could even do london to dover, with a grand start, and see off those that then proceed to the main event.....

"CAR SHIPMENTS
Lamborghini is presently drawing-up an agreement with a shipping company that specializes in
transporting luxury vehicles; this carrier will take care of loading and transporting the cars to
Italy, as well as their return shipment, at discounted rates to the charge of the individual
customers. Dealers will collect the shipping requests of their customers and offer their
showroom or assistance facilities as a vehicle depot whilst waiting to be loaded and shipped to
Milan."

okay, we drive to the shipping company!!! simples.....
no seriously, not everyone is going to go to the grande event in italy, for various reasons, no reason why the uk couldn't hijack the euphoria of the occasion (outside of silverstone classic and the blancpain endurance series) and have a run to the 'shipping company'/port which is assume will be close to the event time wise (can;t see owners wanting to loose their cars for weeks), with the emphasis being the departure (think gumball style in central london) and then the drive ... imagine a hundred lambo's on the m2/20... tunnel run anyone???

Would anyone really ship their car? I'm assuming most of you are in England. If I was going on a driving holiday from there I'd simply add a couple of days on each side and drive to/from Italy.

I did the 40th in 2003, and 3 of us got together to arrange our own transport for the cars. Worked out at about £1000 each. We were then free to fly to Italy a couple of days before the event, spent some time in Milan and then travelled down to Bologna for the event itself. The cars were waiting at the hotel for us when we arrived.

Subsequent trips were made by driving down, and I have to say that it was probably more enjoyable, and I would have driven this time other than the fact that I probably won't be going due to the rip-off prices.

Why stop at the shipping company/port ? Why not head all the way and gate crash the party in a hap hazard disorganised fashion . In true Lambo style smile
