Cerbie - as you were talking about SD3s... I assume you would be in the know what data can be looked up on an 612 scaglietti, do you also know what can be seen with an OBD scanner only? Sorry for the hijack...

Sorry to hear about the cable (1200 I believe they are?)!!
Hi. Only the octopuss cable for sd2 porting has failed so only a mere £900 frown you wont see a lot with an OBD I'm afraid. You should be able to see basic engine data related to (p)OBD codes. I'm based in Stevenage,Hertfordshire, I'd happily hook it up to my SD3 for free if you want it checked properly.

Good luck with the pick up! Must be an damn exciting day for you. Not the best of weathers but who cares!
I'm on the way to pick her up now smile To be honest, the last few days have been so busy I've been a bit stressed and not thought about it a great deal! I'm hoping to unwind a bit in the train now and will hopefully be in full on "new car" mode in an hour or so smile

Very bad iPhone pic at the petrol station just after picking her up smile First impressions? Epic. Feels like driving elegance car-ified. It goes from no revs, engine is just something else....think V12s may be where it's all at hehe Tubi on it sounds fab, good noise at posing speeds and higher up the rev range, between 2.5k and 4k rpm it's just fruity enough to be nice but not intrusive. Interior very impressive, lovely place to be. Modern enough so that you don't feel short changed for a few toys etc, but old school enough that it makes it a special place to be different to modern cars. Very very pleased overall, big childish grin on my face biggrin

Great stuff Mario. I think you've described the car well and she looks very pretty (I would say that, of course).

Mine has a Tubi too and for 25,000 miles I've been very happy with it, but now I'm starting to think it may be time for a change. My principle problem is the loudness at low revs. This is not a problem for myself, but it is a problem for other people. If you're pottering through a Swiss village, I can tell you the pitch forks are being sharpened.... It would be great if you had some manual valves on it so you could close it when desired.

Thanks guys, funny thing: night before last I was out like a light, slept like a baby. Last night, I was exhausted from the whole day by the time we finally got to my sis's house with the car. Few glasses of wine then went to bed. Slept for 4 hours, then woke up and couldn't get back to sleep 'cause of the excitement! Surely I had the sleepless night the wrong way round?! hehe

Thanks again all! We did 400 miles up to Glasgow today and she was epic, even despite the horrible traffic smile To put it mildly, she's a bit of a license killer: 60 mph feels like 30, and you can just about hold her at 75-80mph, although if you're not paying attention and/or have a heavy right foot for a few secs, you'll be in license losing territory. And that's before you've even dropped out of 6th gear eek

Finally, and I promise I'm not kidding here and I know it is a bit "uncool" to talk about fuel consumption, but we did 21.4 mpg overall today hehe Not bad for a car whose extra urban cycle is supposed to be 14.3mpg. Same journey in the 355 would have yielded 19 mpg at most. So using man maths, I've clearly saved money by buying a £50k+ supercar tongue out

There was a little paint that needed attending to that I had spotted, some wiring or something that's a common issue on 550s and the inspection report only really highlighted air con needed looking at. Although we did try the air con yesterday and it didn't appear to be blowing cold, so I'm now chasing that up with them.

I did actually view her, but it was cursory and only for 10 mins or so to check general condition. Then another 15 mins looking through history etc, then 5 mins negotiating the price, followed by deposit subject to inspection. Job jobbed smile

Sorry! Completely forgot to reply to this! I only have a couple of pics from the website from when she was for sale:

I do love the TDF blue/tan combo. I loved my Le Mans blue/crema 355 as well, but I suspect the slightly darker interior wears better. Also, TDF blue is slightly lighter than Le Mans, and so far it appears that in average crap UK winter overcast light you can enjoy the TDF colour a bit more as it shows up better smile

UPDATE:

Ref the original question on this thread, prices for 612s appear to have dropped £8k or so in the last 11 months, 550 prices seem to have held firm with maybe a 5% increase or so....612s are becoming even more of a bargain if you fancy something monstrously quick and practical: http://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/ferrari_550_mar...
